Interesting cos I only know one girl who has been with an indigenous afl player and he hadn't had it done - maybe it depends on which group/the local customs of the particular tribe etc?
I would say that would definitely be the case. Indigenous tribes I know can differ greatly with their traditions and rituals so what might be normal for one tribe, may be foreign for another tribe. Also I would say that the "western" culture would have influenced some of these tribes greatly in many different areas including age old traditions

true but western culture can be misleading - for example circumcision is very common in the USA whereas in britain and europe most men are uncut? Does anyone have any indigenous male friends that they could ask? it really is an interesting topic

I know from my experience when I have been with uncircumcised men that area is a lot more sensitive when exposed - although sometimes this means they finish faster if you get my drift..

How can it be your experience? You don't have a penis.

What is the circumcision rate in Australia these days anyway?

Figures have a 2 year lag due to issues of collation so these are current as of 2012.
Most are for purely ritual purposes.

Fairly accurate as 94% are claimed on Medicare.
I can't see in what situation very many circumcisions are performed outside of the medical system as claimed above, but some unrealistic religious paranoia may exist surrounding the issue...I don't think it is illegal in any Australian state or territory, unless expressly where it is not performed by a suitably qualified medical professional...which seems to also go against the claims of "backyard" circumcisions.

The guys with wangs that look like untied sausages are such haters.

They are like rabid feminazis.

Had this discussion with a couple of mates on the weekend. I'm cut but my boys aren't. My view is that it's an unnecessary and painful procedure. Perhaps they may need or want it done in the future. That's their call. They'd be in a minority if they were circumcised - unlike my generation.

What is with this it's a painful procedure line?

First off find me one cut guy who remembers any pain from when it happened and secondly, local anaesthesia...

I was 9 and remember clearly. The pain is in the healing. An infant would still feel that - even if they may not remember in later years.

So at 9 you aren't the average kid getting cut when an infant.

We all experience pain in life. Part of growing up.

If all these people were so concerned about the pain and trauma a baby "suffers" they'd actually not have had children. Because of course the actual event of being born can be a painful and traumatic event to a baby when compared to a small quick procedure like circumcision.

Or is this excusable due to the parents selfish needs to have children? I mean they don't really need children.

Seems rather hypocritical to me.

I had it done when a baby and don't remember a thing. But from what I can tell it does certainly affect sensitivity. Although I'm not entirely sure that's a bad thing. As catgirl above says, it means I can last longer in bed. In fact it takes reasonable effort for me to orgasm. Kind of makes all the old jokes about premature ejaculation difficult to understand, but the way I look at it is that I apparently have greater control over my orgasm than an uncut guy does.

mutilation justified by relgious dogma without the consent of the child. quence do we speak of evil?

I think very few people of my vintage (born in the 1970's) were circumcised for religious reasons. My brother and I were circumcised because our parents wanted us to look like our Dad. And he probably had it done because his parents wanted him to look like his Dad. Nobody in my family has been inside a church for nearly 70 years.

I'm not sure why when you're given a healthy new born boy, one the first things you do is start chopping bits off of them. Seems counter intuitive to me.

Evolution isn't perfect. Circumcision has many medical benefits. We chop bits off perfectly healthy newborn lambs too. Because it helps them to have longer and more disease-free lives.
