Clancee Pearce elevated!

Given the players we have lost, his hardness may be something that keeps him in the team, but if the drafting of midfield talent is as good as what everyone here thinks, then his spot in the team will be in danger. Of all our mids currently best 22, mzungu, Pearce and Deboer would be the least talented footballers IMO, with Crowley just ahead. Someone has to drop out if our kids are as good as what everyone says

Our young players have a fair bit of development to go before considering them best 22 over Pearce. It's not even worth considering which of our players gets dropped for Crozier, Sheridan, who ever because it's not going to be soon.

According to half the people on here everyone drafted last year will be close to All Australian for 2013.
And when their naive expectations aren't matched, out come the knives..

i completely agree, and have said as much in other posts and threads. All i was trying to say, was that for everyone's raving about our drafting, if these kids are as good as what everyone says, then some players will have to drop out at some point. And based on talent, the three most suseptible would be pearce, deboer and mzungu, but that is not to say that those three wont have unbelievable years and keep these kids out. I would expect one of Sheridan, Crozier, Sutcliffe or Neale to become a regular in 2013. My personal pick is sheridan, because he is a skillful inside midfielder who I know people at Peel thunder who think he could be absolutely anything.

I'll go out on a limb and say Crozier, Neale, Michie and Sheridan are all going to be good footballers (we already know Mora and Mellington are). I suspect the club thinks so too - hence the attitude to Broughton, Roberton and Lower. We're upgrading, people!

We'll be lucky if one of them is an A grader. Lightning just doesn't strike that often, for any club.

A real club changer is Simpson. I've devoured every bit of highlights clip I can of him. His potential is enormous on pure base talent.

IMO, from the 2009-2011 crop, Fyfe is basically the sole A grader we can expect. Hill still possible to make that level from 2008, nothing from 2010, 2011 there are some competitors but no standouts.

I would love for Mora to be one but with his injuries I will be stoked if he just makes 100 games.

No we won't.
Geelong had two very good drafts where they set themselves up.
I think we have just had the two excellent drafts with the PSD still to come , promising some KPP to us.
It won't be luck it will be calculated selections.

I think we are forgetting about Subcliffe, same age as Pitt and has already played some really good football in an almost full strength squad. Neale, Crozier, Simpson and Suttcliffe are the best of the next generation for mine.

I don't get the lack of respect for Hill. He get's the starting tag in every game and when clubs have not he has torn them a new one in the first quarter. I can't remember the game, it might have been the North game when he had close to 20 possessions to half time before they put a hard tag on him.

Anyway probably not helping keeping this thread on task.

Sorry, what's the task of this thread?;)

Of course we will. Geelong may have had two very good drafts (1999 and 2001) but they also had some pretty middling ones. Even 2001 yielded a couple of duds (Gardiner, Playfair).

Plenty of fans think they've drafted well in the initial years after they've recruited. Then their players play 10+ games and the flaws become apparent.

You could make a case that Barlow's is far worse and he just won the time trial, if anything not crashing against the Paul Chapmans of the world for two years could be a blessing.

No lack of respect, but he is not yet an A grader. You look at Simpson's pre-draft highlights vs Hill's pre-draft highlights and you'll see the difference. One wants to break the lines by taking on the tackler directly with pace, whereas the other tries to dance around them. Whether Simpson makes it at AFL level is another matter, but it is fairly apparent there are major flaws in Hill's game.

You'd be talking about some father-son players though right? In any case, the pieces don't often fall that gracefully, look no further than Melbourne for shitty drafts, every kid's a potential A grader before they've been at the club for 2 years - according to fans, and I guess just like with Melbourne - it's how you develop them that determines their standing in the game.

Barlow's was pretty bad, but knee recos aren't much better and Mora's had two. He's had two years out of football.
