I agree we should tank this year.

But I reckon its also a get out of jail free card for Wallace, and he already used it last year.

Wallace is in his 4th year, and we've seen nothing from him

Carlton are knocking on the door of the eight this year..... imagine what we could do next year with this injection of talent.

its not, because he will need to fend off the tigerheads wanting to burn the place down...for me, if he doesnt execute the plan and the plan isnt get the best in the next draft, then he is ____ing us up, the end.
The team that he was a legend at, has benefited from our misses. 1.
They have gone ahead in leaps and bounds when we should have been in that position acoording to he himself. 2
The excuse given as to the non selection of Buddy was his attitude, yet we have youngsters in the 2s who are there because of what excuse? attitude....dont know about you dude, but someone is shitting someone...

And blind freddy can see we are no where ____ing near being a top side with the personel at our disposal, who can be removed with who is available in the draft.

If he doenst do the job then we are ____ed, because IMO they are all feasting on the carcass that is the tigers. ;)

With 4 pre-season and an Injury free season this year TW has NO excuses for not having us near the eight. If we loose against Melb he should stand down as Coach. I'm sure there is a performance side to his contract and top eight finnish would surely be in the forth year of it and we could pay him out for the rest of the season. Rawlings comes in as CareTaker coach while we have the rest of the season to interview and find the best on offer.

Rawlings plays the Kids... out of position what ever it takes so we dont win another game for the Season.

We end up with pick 1 and 2.

we have a huge trade andvantage with pick 1 in the PSD

We have first dibs on any up and coming coach.

We go into the 2009 season with a new Coach and a huge injection of Talent that will see us through the inclusion of the interstate teams and insure our survival whilst other Melbourne Clubs struggle.

Another wooden spoon but a big step towards success.

____ that, he is a Hawk....we need a tiger to make sure the job is done for the tigers. ANyone from outside the club means they might have other ideas. ;)

Cousins won't be in the PSD and if he was, he would not be the answer for us. The PSD pick is pretty much worthless. The leverage it gives you for trading is also overrated. What did it get us last year?

Even playing our best team, we're still going to pick in the 5-8 range which could be a player like:

#5 Franklin, #7 Lewis (2004)
#5 Pendlebury, #7 Ryder (2005)
#7 Selwood (2006)
#7 Palmer (2007)

Basically, tanking gets us one player. If that player is a dud or gets injured, then tanking gets us nothing except a long losing streak going into next year. We could even get out-tanked this season because there are a few teams that might be thinking about it.
 
I am actually a TW supporter. And I think his drafting decisions have been good and I also think that our list is improving and will be a good side anyway.

But the fact is he has had 4 preseasons to get us up. A loss against the dees unfortunately should be the end of TW. Even though I agree with what he says and most of his excuses enough is enough.

Succesful coaches have often been blessed with players left behind by the previous coaches. TW has put the foundations and has developed the list extremely well in my opinion but the score needs to be on the board.

It's a perfect time to get a new coach with a new Voice and new Ideas that will benefit from TW's list and will achieve instant success(wins) and with that instant confidence as a coach. It could well be the start of a new era for the tige;s
 
We can afford one more draw and that's it. If we finish this season with 16 or less points, we get a priority draft pick at the start of the first round so pick no.1. As we will be down the bottom our first pick after that will be either pick no. 2 or 3, but prob 3 if someone finishes below us. Going from that our draft selections are 1,3,20,36,52.....

So 3 top 20 picks, and in this draft that is some serious talent injection into our list. Daniel Rich is a ready made midfielder and Natanui/Hurley would add quality to our KPP stocks.

Recruiting has improved massively over the past few years, so anyone dismissing the benefit of another top 5 pick because it could turn out to be fiora is blinded.

A winning culture is fine as long as you have the cattle capable of actually winning, and quite clearly we don't. Personally I'd much prefer to inject more talent into our list then have some token wins against the bottom sides. We aren't going to make the finals so what is the point?

Cousins I wouldn't want either... but thats the quality that will be on offer this year.

The Fijian sounds like he is going to be better than Kruezer and heaven knows might be another Buddy.

Tanking gets us the 2 best kids in the country if we finnish last.

I think you are greatly undervaluing the prize for finishing last.
 
Even if we were too lose every game this year we still may not get picks 1,2 btw. Because if Melbourne stayed on 2 wins then we'd have 1,3 just so you understand that.

I dont think it is a realistic possibility anyway we will have to just use all our picks and grow organically.

This I can agree with. Wallace has to show us something in the 2nd half of this season or he should be gone. If we are belted by Melbourne, it's time to go. If we don't win at least 4 more games, then he should be gone at year's end.

If he does enough to keep his job, then our improvement should be obvious and we can go into the final year of his contract with some optimism. If we keep playing the way we have the last 2 weeks, then we get a new coach, another couple of good young players and...there's still some cause for optimism.

Rubbish post. The number 1 PSD pick provides a club with a massive advantage come trading period, and is the reason we got Mitch Morton so cheap.

Sure pick 5-7 will bring us a quality player, but if you want to use your argument that the top 5 can still be a dud, wouldn't 2 top 5 picks increase the odds of picking a 200+ gamer? Regardless we can be almost 100% sure 2 of this years top 5 will bring real quality to our list.

If we wanted we could also trade say Meyer or Shulz for + our third rounder for another second round pick and strenghen our postion in the draft even more. Maybe 1 3 20 and 24.. And when these kids turn 21 we will have Delido and co. all around the 25 year age bracket.

We have also spent more money on our Recruiting department and Cameron would bring a fair bit of experience to the Table come draft day.

1 more year of pain.... we've already had 28 whats 1 more????:D

Since when did the RFC look to upgrade picks or even trade players for picks? Miller is more likely to trade them for players.

I agree with the Miller sentiment... but drafting for us has been a gamble mainly due to our resources, rather than Millers expertise. I'm sure we have spent the recent cash on the recruitment for a reason.

Well we have invested in recruitment and list management, so if we are serious about improving we need to take the national draft seriously. Upgrading our picks should be a priority, but I'd like to see this trade:
Pick 20 + Edwards = Pick 10 or something like that and then use pick 10 on a quality tall. Do we have the balls to make a trade like that?

It's all about bringing in quality young players and seeing if they are good enough. If not, then move on. It needs to follow a long-term list management plan. Considering our lack of talls, we need to bring in more then what we have. 15 or so 190+cm is not enough. It leaves us too vulnerable when a tall doesn't make it.
