i thought he showed during the home series ODI's that he had regained his ability to hit 6's and 4's.. not that he totally lost it but perhaps his test form allowed him to be a bit more adventurous than we had become accustomed to. perhaps ganguly or whoever hires their players recognised this.

i'll be annoyed though if it causes his back to flare up.

Aussies have a big break after the Windies. Even if it does flare up, he'll have time to recover.

Yeh, hmm.

Did you watch his last ODI ton?

Great batsman.
Gun fielder.
Handy bowler.
Best limited overs captain in the world.

What are they thinking?
Completely forgot about that, I mean who wouldn't want a player that bats at a 100 in T20's when they make ODI's tons. Oh Clarke killed it in the second half of his innings, his first 50 came off 53 rocks, that's ideal for T20's.

Who wouldn't want an all rounder that bats at 108 S/R, takes a wicket every 26 balls going at 8.5 an over and hits the stumps one in ten times when a run out chance is on (yes his fielding is excellent for Indian standards). Best limited overs captain in the world, based on what exactly, whitewashing the Bangas?

Yeah I'm completely wrong about this, must be some sabremetrics going on here that I don't know about.

I don't think he's a dud at t20's but hes definitely not great at them. Tests and ODI's are completely different to t20's. I also think he's a quality captain but he won't be captain, he'll only be an 'unofficial leader'. Certainly not the worst get anyway.

No doubt he hasn't performed well in T20 cricket but he has all the tools to be a very good T20 player. It will be interesting to see how he goes. I expect him to go well.

Does this indicate at all that he's interested in playing International T20s again?

Or is it just a grab for quick and easy cash?

For the cash you would think. It's not like CA and his "brand" don't bring him enough money, but any decent cricketer who has a window to play in the IPL would be putting their hand up to play and cash in. I bet when Mitchell Johnson is back, he probably won't be a fixture in all three teams like he once was so he'll change his tune too.

Fair enough too. It does worry me though to see the younger generation thinking about it and it's really sad when a case like Narine comes along.

When Clarke decided he didn't want to play T20 he wasn't really a good player in that format. But now a days he scores at a brisk rate, he can be a handy bowler and a brilliant fielder. So it will interesting to see how he fares with the bat.

Looking far too much into his stats there.

I'd say he wants the cash plus getting his foot in the door for the BigBash and other tournaments when he retires.
It's for the money which I never blame anyone for chasing.

But it will stop any of us having to hear the type of claptrap that he came out with a couple of years ago about players choosing to play the IPL.

Funny how he's been saying for years that he isn't gonna do the IPL coz he puts his country first. Now he's captain, he joins a club

All about the cash

He never said that. He said he wanted to be a part of the IPL from the beginning.

Did you even read the article?

For me, personally, right now it is about representing my country, and every game I can play for Australia, I will do that. That`s my priority.
He didn't say he didn't want to play IPL. Just that representing his country was his priority. And arguably, nothing has really changed... there is just a gap in the schedule that gives him that opportunity.

Like I said, when it comes to Clarke, haters gonna hate.

There are some far greater hacks than Michael Clarke who are playing IPL. To say its outragoues to pick him - I just dont get it.

Best overall batsman in world cricket at the moment IMO.

He's not a slogger. Can't score fast enough for t/20's.
He'll be alright at Pune. Their batting was shithouse last year, they didn't have anyone to hang around while the others slogged. He could do that role for them well enough, Dada was just too slow for them when he did hang around.

Though having got Steve Smith he could probably do the drag anchor role better than Dada as well.
