outback jack said:biglands has been ok, definitely not a liability as some clowns have said. The only way i would bring in clark is if we are coming towards finals and looking like we might be a chance, as the comp is very even this yr, and clarkely had some good sanfl form up and rhett was struggling a bit. ATM we have rhett who is slowly regaining his confidence after ayres did everything he could to knock it out of him. He will be there next yr so needs as much time as possible i think.

The Toolman said:Jack...seriously. Rhett has had ample opportunity this year to become the number 1 man in the ruck. He is built like a brick outhouse, can leap tall buildings, is seemingly quick across the turf for a big man...and yet he has done little.
Matthew Clarke is the best tap ruckman in the game. We should field our best side if we are going to play finals.
I seriously question Biglands position on our list other than an emergency.

outback jack said:like what>? I think basically he is getting his confidence back and talk of delisting him or him spending time in the sanfl why clarke plays pointless games doesnt really make sense. He tries atleast, unlike some.
Yes, but when he is tapping well, he sets up so much of our play from the stoppages. And you can't just bring him in if we make the finals....you need him in there to ensure that we reach the finals.outback jack said:Clarke if he is not tapping well is useless. I'd only bring him back if we are in the finals and rhett is in poor form.![]()
topjars said:So based on most of the above banter, Clarke will replace Biglands as soon as his injury comes good.....phew
ps It is only a gut feel based on no facts. (Clarke pulling the pin I mean)

West AdelaideVery good point - I think some fail to understand team sport - yes develop young players in AFL but only if they are level with a more experienced player at the selection table - always then go for the youth. The Toolman said:Biglands out. Clarke in. No need to think!
The longer this season goes on, the liklihood is folks that we are going to play finals footy. maybe even get a double chance. So lets roll the dice and play our best side available. And by any stretch of the imagination, Clarke dumps all over Biglands as a ruckman. Rhett might take one more mark...so what? Biglands would be the biggest unfulfilled talent that the Crows have ever had. Big and mobile, he should dominate games....yet he barely causes a ripple. Clarkey on the hand, put balls down our players throats with his deft tapping. Lets get real!

outback jack said:yep obviously he cant come in just in the finals but in the latter half of the season. I wouldnt do it though, depending on how rhett goes of course (i am banking on some improvement). The centre circle has killed his ruck style though i reckon.
macca23 said:So if the centre circle has killed Biglands ruck style - which probably is the case - then why do you think he will improve?
outback jack said:mainly by getting his confidence back, which i think is slowly happening. Couple of yrs ago he was in the top 5 rucks imo, obviously is dropped and its a while since then.
West AdelaideThe Toolman said:Top 5 rucks at the Adelaide Football Club??? Only just!

West AdelaideNever had any doubt that Clarke would play out the season - Biglands beware hunting season is about to startmacca23 said:Clarke was on telly tonight, saying that he wasn't about to do a "Stevo" adn had every intention of playing out the full year.
He was hoping to get his form over the next 4 weeks up to the appropriate level to fight his way back into the side - a damn good attitude.
As South have the bye this week, he will probably resume at reserves level for another club - they thought it would probably be at Sturt.
Biglands will have to be en garde over the next 4 weeks as his form has been nothing to write home about.
The Hyphen shat all over Spida one day, didn't he? Could Biglands do that?Truck Rutten said:Trent Ormond-Allen is a better ruckman than Rhett![]()
