People will argue that.........well at least we've won the Cup.........but for mine ..........if this scenario was ever played out..........it just wouldnt feel / be the same.

ESSEDON FOOTBALL CLUB = BLACK WITH A RED SLASH.

I as a Essendon Member will always expect us to wear Red and Black, not Sliver or Pink or Blue or whatever some trendy ******** things might sell, we didn't become the greatest Club by Changing to suit the trendies, we became the great club we are by.

1 Winning 16 Flags
2 Producing great players
3 never being far from contention

Yes its the AFL whom set the rules, but its the Clubs who make the GAME, sure things change, like moving from East Melbourne to Windy Hill to the G to the Dome, but the argument that our Jumper clashes with others, is total rubbish.

I say to the Essendon FC, get revenge on the dears at the AFL, by winning Flag after Flag, and just sticking up the dears, for we are and forever will be the club of

Sir Richard ( ******** was blocked) Hutinson,Coleman and Hirdy.

For those not on Bomberblitz:

There will be petitions to sign at this weeks game, also at ANZAC Day. They will be used to send in to the board and the AFL to show them just how many fans are opposed to this change. Also we will be collecting 100 members signatures so that we have that up our sleeves if we are forced to call for an EGM, we don't want to do it but we want to have it at our disposal if needed.

FFS, get over it please. What in the hell is that going to achieve? What is the big deal about wearing a jumper for three games a year that differentiates us (which HELPS players, fans and commentators)?

Why is this overrated issue, (that should have happened years ago anyway), getting the attention? Who cares wnat we wear when we are the away team in 3 designated games a year? SO WHAT?

As long as we win, who gives a rats ass? No one from other sports care when they change their jumper? You know why? Because it's no big deal, thats why.

100 signatures, AGM's, petitions, etc. Have you gone mental? Why don't you worry about the important things instead of wasting the Football clubs time with irrelevant, and time-comsuming garbage.

It would be exactly the same as any other premiership. And if we were the "lower placed team" in the GF against, say the Demons, we would rightly and fairly have to wear an alternate strip. And you know what... so what? The importance of the game is irrelevant.

If your support is dependent on a piece of nylon, then you have a big problem. Its no problem for anyone else in the entire world. Why are you making it one for yourself?

See, that's your problem, our support isn't dependant on nylon, but seems your is, you have said that the Bombers should have changed their jumper in the 70's, why?

You try to be so cool, by saying the Bombers should wear silver or gold, but the Bombers are Red & Black, you are alone, give it up.

Havn't I alreayd told you that? Don't you listen. When colour TV came in, this should have happened. That was in 1974. it should have really happened when the legaue started in 1897.

I don't care what we wear, but it seems your support is dependent upon nylon, because for you, it is a big deal (God knows why) My support isn't dependent upon a piece of fabric. I just want the team to do well.

I don't really care what we wear as long as it doesn't clash. Silver was a suggestion. What does "you try to be cool" mean? I'm not alone by the way. The rest of the world, the AFL, and 14 of the 16 clubs agree.

It's time to accept it, because it will happen.

Just be warned, expect some hostility. I thought Essendon supporters were better than that, but it seems there are a few who think they have the right to act on behalf of everyone. You'll destroy our club if you call and EGM and try and create a board spill. If people try and do this we might as well change the jumper to black with a yellow sash.

I can't believe the Bomberblitz website had the nerv to say this in reference to the board - What gives you the right to do this without consultation of the Essendon members?

And then went on and said this - NEIL McKISSOCK NO LONGER HAS THE CONFIDENCE OF THE ESSENDON MEMBERS!

Why do people feel the need to speak for everyone? I'm an Essendon memeber, he hasn't lost the confidence of me nor any of the family/friends I go to the footy. I think you'll find very quickly that the greater percentage of members are willing to accept that there is very little that can be done in this situation.

I don't want the jumper to change, but the club has done everything in their power at great expense to protect the jumper and I'm not sure why that isn't good enough for some people.

Also, what makes people think this issue is dead and burried?

As Neil said, there are people out there that need to pull their head in.

I agree with several points here, first No one can claim to talk for someone else, unless they are their Legal Guardian, and I don't have one of those, so no one speaks on my behalf.

Second I don't think its the Essendon Board that has failed, its the AFL, the Essendon Board is just trying to adept to the fact that it doesn't make the rules, the AFL does, and while we and Peter Jackson himself has written that he doesn't like either, so lets focus on those whom deserve our contempt and that isn't the Essendon Board.:thumbsu:

Exactly. Now if you can get those halfwits over at Bomberblitz to understand that we might actually avoid the danger of turning our club into a circus.

The BomberTalk forum is also filled with dozens of angry Essendon supporters against McKissock & the board, it is more than just a BomberBlitz thing

Do find it kind of ironic that the official site is hosting a forum where McKissock, the Board and Peter Jackson are getting torn to shreads

If you read my early posts in this thread you'd see I don't agree with Dan.
I don't agree with changing the jumper.

My biggest concern is the challenge of the board, and the talks of trying to out them. My concern is Bomberblitz took the liberty of speaking for me when they said "NEIL McKISSOCK NO LONGER HAS THE CONFIDENCE OF THE ESSENDON MEMBERS!"

My concern is people are acting on emotion rather than common sense, I understand that this is an emotional issue and football is an emotional game. But any actions in regards to this must be done without emotion. Emotion clouds judgement, it creates bias.

My concern is this club will go backwards if any group of members attempt to rid the board of their power. I don't have to sign up to Bomberblitz to express that.

I find it ironic that the people having their say on the official club site are also claiming that the club doesn't let them have a say.

Some peanuts even want to Boycott games. I mean for ********sake.

If you had read what was on the BomberBlitz forum, nobody is trying to get rid of the board (well apart from a handful of 'radicals'), even main agitator Mero suggested that was the case

They are getting the 100 signatures to get the club to call an open members information night within 30 days (with no motions etc and not an expensive EGM) where the issue can be discussed and both sides can put their case

Can't see anything wrong with trying to hold the board answerable and accountable to it's members. By the time the next EFC AGM comes along in December, it will be all too late. The media has played up the EGM Board Challenge angle

In fact I think it should be complusory for all membership based clubs to hold members night every 3 months instead of 12

That is what concerns me. Mero and Mantis both called for the board to be outed. Mind you Mero isn't a member I see.

That I have no problem with.

And on BomberTalk that are suggesting that people should protest against club sponsors and not buy their products and write letters to club sponsors to force the club to change it's position

At bomberblitz they are putting together a petition, while at bombertalk it's boycotts and sponsor protests

Which is the more radical fan forum?

Most of these people would be members (you'd hope so at least). With most memberships you get into the ground for free, so them not turning up won't hurt the club, unless they give up their membership over it, which is pretty ******** weak.

I'm annoyed that we're being made to have an alternate jumper, and as i posted a few days ago i'd have liked the board to make more of a public stand. They do seem to have done a lot of work behind the scenes though, so i can say i'm about 99% ********ed at the AFL and 1% ********ed at EFC.

That's just as stupid.

The petition wasn't started by bomberblitz. Just some posters there.

Which is the more radical fan forum?
Being unbiased here, due to the fact I own half of Bomberblitz, don't write any articles by the way.

There's no 'radical' so to speak. We did create a seperate forum for the jumper discussion to keep it seperate from the usual football matters.

Bombertalk is sugar coated due to the fact it is run by the club, so player 'criticism' is deleted right away. There are a fair amount of half wits there. It use to be good when it started 99-01 then it went down hill.

Some idiot last year suggested we trade Lloyd after round 1. And this year, before a ball had been bounced someone posted that Lloyd was the worst choice for the captaincy.

There will be petitions at the game on Sunday. These are for members only, as the names and details will be used towards collecting the nessecary 100 signatures for the EGM. We don't intend on calling for one, just using that threat to make the club have a meeting with the members.

These petitions will be outside Gate 2 from 1PM. If we have enough people helping out, hopefully we can have them outside more gates also. If you'd like to help out simply roll up to Gate 2 a little after 1 and look for the guys with petitions.

There will also be petitions on ANZAC Day, these won't be used for an EGM, these will be presented to the AFL, anyone can sign those ones, and we have many Essendon and Collingwood fans helping out already. Any extra help would be appreciated.
