Two new Cubs join the Den

The Brisbane Lions have added two new members to their squad at the 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft on Monday night.

Claudia Wright was the Club’s first addition, selected at pick 16, hailing from Claremont, Western Australia.

The 18-year-old, who was selected for the National Academy side, played largely off half-back but has spent time in the midfield for her WAFLW side Claremont.

Possessing a host of impressive athletic attributes, the 172 centimetre right-footer is a strong overhead mark and competes well one-on-one, making her a tricky match up for opponents.

“Claudia is someone we think will fit well into our group,” Lions AFLW List Manager, Michael Swann said.

“She is clean in around stoppage and can be damaging by foot, while her run and carry is something which excites us.

“She has plenty of scope to play multiple positions as evident in her draft year playing half-back, wing and midfield at times and we’re looking forward to having her as part of the Club next season.”
