With players now being suspended after 3 minor indiscretions is it time the afl give every player a clean slate after the home and away season just like soccer does in the World Cup with yellow cards after the group stages?
Imagine a player on 2 fines playing in a hotly contested preliminary final missing a grand final for something like Luke hodge was suspended for last week?
I think the time is right for all players from teams that have made finals to not have those fines carry over into the finals.

Cotchin & Martin on 2 strikes and the call is to drop the points.
Yeah....nah.
Anyone gloating over Dangerfield, Hawkins, Grundy etc had better hold their breath.
Forget having a clean slate for the finals...if anything the AFL will up the penalties !

subtle agenda is not subtle enough
I'd be very upset if dusty missed a grand final over a minor incident as any supporter would however no agenda here, I would hate to see any star player miss out on a possible once in a lifetime opportunity to play in a grand final due to a minor incident that would normally just produce a fine.

YES.... missing a GF for what Hawkins did this week or Hodge last week (and others this season) would be cruel and unusual punishment.

This reporting system was introduced by Evans who said he intended to correct the recent years of over sanatising of the game (paraphrasing)....thus allowing for fines instead of suspensions.... NOW with the media whistle blowers and new Footy Manager at AFL house replacing Evans players are being suspended far too quickly and unfairly.

I'm gonna say no. The reason finals were so violent in times gone by was at least the perception the standards were different.
We lost Stevie J last year but have to take it on the chin, he did the crime.
Keep the rules and the standards the same IMO, and rub illegal play out of the game. As much as I look back with fondness at hard games and players of the past.

The idea of an amnesty isn't anything new in sport, look at the World Cup as an example of wiping off yellow cards at a certain point in the tournament. It makes sense however I would still like to maintain the double demerit perception with incidents on grand final day itself. The last thing you want is someone thinking of running through a bloke to get the advantage on the day.

maybe make it 4 strikes your out but a clean slate mean you can have a fine a week and not miss a final
if youre top 4 and win your qf.

Probably a silly question but how does it work once u have had your 3rd offence? Do you do your time then start back at zero or does every indiscretion after that guarantee a suspension? And if that is the case do the indiscretions roll over to the next season?(eg if Martin or Cotchin have no more issues this year do they start next year on 2 or zero?

I don't mind as long as its the reset point. Right now its three fines in a calendar year, change it to three fines between week 1 of the finals and round 23 next year. That means you get fined in finals it counts towards the 3 next year, you get suspended in final you can't win the brownlow the year after.

Here is a better solution if you are on two fines and in danger of missing an important final use your brain and dont punch your opponent in the guts or grab his jumper and punch him in the chin
I got a better way, wait til round 22 and if your ladder position is locked, go start a melle, get your fine and miss round 23.
Unless yof course each fine after 2 weeks is a week? Or after you get the 3rd do you have to get another 3 to miss a week? Anyone know?

Maybe if you get a 3rd fine in the finals you can still play but have to take double the suspension at the start of the next year?

You think the MRP won't apply their orchestrated riggle room within the terminology wherever they can once finals arrive?
