Burton's 1st marking contest, 45m out, North-Eastern Flank

Burton squibed out of it but the Richmond player dropped the ball and made it a 50/50 contest

Walker would of pushed him in the back giving the defender clear disposal

there's 1 thing he would of done worse than Burton (but i'd be pushed to think of a second thing though)

Fair point but it was even a step up from the norm yesterday.

All well and good but he's been up against similar duo's before but never really taken a step like yesterday, that was his 1st possible BOG I have seen, he took some strong contested marks and was awesome in the ruck, we won so many but then coughed it up with a subsequent rubbish handball that got intercepted.

So why doesnt our club lodge a complaint with the maggots? Its time we stood up for ourselves instead of being the conservative toe-the-liners.

Burton always looks like he is being held onto or pushed. It might have something to do with the way he flings his body around in a very awkward and unco-ordinated manner.

Tippet wont win frees because he does not let his body go limp when he feels a contest. It is also the reason his second efforts are quite good.

on fox they replayed and pointed out how burton got away with holding the richmonds guys leg in hat part of play were they were both lying on the ground, but wen it happened to crows players nothing...!

I also think the way he plays, and we play to him, effects his ability to win frees.

He is often sat under the ball in a pack situation. Far harder to pick out frees in those situations than clear one-outs where every little jumper pull is visible.

If he wants to win more free's he needs more space and to be on the move more IMO.

Having said that - love how he can win the contest in a pack situation and its definitely a part of our game we will keep. It's jsut going to be harder to win frees in that situation IMO.
