At the risk of re-opening old wounds, Cleve has began to dominate the QAFL for Southport Sharks who sit unbeaten at top of ladder. Seems he's staking a claim to get picked up by GC17. Has booted 9, 6 and 5 past 3 matches. 31 goals for season from 7 games.

Isn't the QAFL equal to that of the VFL reserves? I know it's a very low standard comp compared to VFL, SANFL and even WAFL so I couldn't care less. Also couldn't care less if Hughes was picked up by the GC, he was useless for Richmond.

:)WOULD be great seeing him line-up on Post, McGuane, Gourdis or Thursfield and seeing the ball rebound quickly into our forward line!!
waste of our time!

People up here like to talk up the QAFL...but seriously, Labrador have Knobel running around for them!!

Southport dominate most games and all Clean Knees has to do is lead up and kick straight. That kid Justin Kahlefeldt was one the Sharks best too last year, and although he is going alright ATM for Coburg, he still has a lot of improving to do to be considered a regular AFL player.

Big Cleaver..at his level in the QAFL!

The QAFL would be the perfect place for "clean knees" Clever playing in a low grade competition where he can do what he wants on dry, warm days.

I notice that ex-Carlton spud Darren Pfeiffer is also in their best as well most weeks so that really says it all as to how much to take out of Cleve's dominance in a team that pretty well buys their premierships.

Good luck to him but he's no loss to the yellow and black.

It's not that low of a standard. It's certainly higher than VFL reserves.

Kahlefeldt was in our best couple for every single pre-season game and for the first three or four VFL games.

So I think we've all established that it's a pretty low standard (come on - saying it's "certainly higher than VFL reserves" as pretty telling). We all know Cleve Hughes was a superb lead-up mark and a pretty good kick, but that's where his repertoire ended.

Good luck to him, I'm sure he's enjoying himself in the sunshine state surfing when he wants to and domniating part-time footballers.

/End thread.

Could not agree more. This level is lower then the VFL remember the league were he could not get a kick either let alone AFL. Glad he is gone from Richmond forever and ever :) . Could not care about him one bit.

GC will grab him for sure.

Brisbanes 2's are in the comp and he kicked 5 against them. Say what you like but they have alot of listed players running around obviously in there 2's.

There is a bit of senior talent at Southport that should be looked at.

:)WHERE'S my ol' sparring partner, MadTiger???
Was forever espousing the value of one Cleve Hughes to the point of him being the unluckiest guy never to play 50 AFL games!
He'd be going nuts over Cleve's run of form!!!
