Browns placed FS Grant Delpit on injured reserve with a torn Achilles' tendon, ending his season.
This was the expectation earlier Monday and an MRI confirmed the worst. Without Delpit, the Browns have a major hole opposite SS Karl Joseph. New free agent Earl Thomas could be an option, though the mysterious circumstances surrounding his exit from the Ravens could be a holdup. Andrew Sendejo is the "top" in-house option. Still one month shy of his 22nd birthday, Delpit should return to 100 percent health well before the start of the 2021 season. The No. 44 overall pick was the No. 3 safety off the board in this year's draft. Capable of playing multiple positions, Delpit profiles as an asset both against the pass and run once he's finally able to make his NFL debut next year.

I think this will be a bit of a transition year. We’re a young team changing systems with a rookie LT. And all of that without a preseason. The first month will probably be pretty rough, it’s just lucky we play the Bengals and R******s early.

The injury list certainly doesn’t help either.

This one was always going to be a write off. The Bengals game on Friday will hopefully be a better idea of where we are, but really I think we just need to get through the first month or so.

Thought we went away from the run way too early. Should at least be 50/50 with the play calling. Chubb and Hunt is our strength, need to use them to open up the passing game. I think that will change next game.

In terms of the D, there’s a reason why Thomas is a special teams guy only. And ideally Sendejo is the third safety. Injuries didn’t give us a chance.

And then we lose another linebacker to injury, plus Njoku who was looking like our best receiving option and Wills at LT. We just can’t have nice things.

Yep. We're lucky we didn't play a good QB, and even luckier we have Dwayne Haskins next.

Hopefully Harrison will settle in at the safety position now he's been here a couple of weeks. And both Greedy and Johnson should be back next week. That means no more Sendejo or Thomas.
