Climate Change Arguing

Seeing this trend of school kids protesting in cities during the week. Wouldn't it make more sense to do this on a weekend when more similar aged, like minded people can come to together? Or is this an excuse to wag off school and that climate change (if you believe in it) only matters on week days and not my weekends.

Idiots.

Australia has been specially not invited to speak at the next UN climate conference. A few other nations too.

Good start.
The UN must still think a few people care what they think. They have been a running joke for 20 years now.
They haven't yet realised the entire world now ignores everything they do and say, about everything.

I saw a kid being interviewed on the ABC this morning and she said "I'm terrified coz if we don't have zero emissions by 2030 we probably wont be here".

Who the hell is responsible for brainwashing this up and coming new breed of moron ? Their idiot teachers ?

Believing in something just because someone says so without evidence or understanding of the facts is not science its religion.

You don't even know the legitimacy of the surveys that claim 97% of scientists believe in man made climate change. How easy is it to rig those surveys ?

I will give you 3 scientific facts.

1.The earth warms on it own.
2.The earth has never been able to produce more food.
3.Cold weather causes more health problems than hot weather.

Right wing parties are outperforming left wing parties across most of the western world. The world has rejected climate change extremism.
Dummy, you read to many Murdoch papers or perhaps you come from Queensland. Your 3 scientific facts are all true, but utterly and totally irrelevant to the issue, but its a nice try at deflection, with a capital D.

I'll give you 3 facts that are more relevant than yours.

1. 150 years ago the global sea level was rising at 1.5 mm per year. Now it is 3.2 mm per year. The acceleration is mostly over the last 20 years, mirroring trends in C02. That's a foot each decade and metre every 30 years assuming it doesn't speed up. They only way the sea level rises is with warming. A metre rise in sea level will be disastrous for many costal areas, and the 2-3 metres by the end of the century will inundate many more cites.

2. No studies have shown as rapid change in C02 in the Earths past, the rate of change is unprecedented and never happened before. - suggests it's us humans doing it.

3. There is very, very strong correlation between C02 rise, air temperature and sea levels. Also many laboratory and space experiments suggest CO2 is the major, but not only cause. It's CO2! (mostly)

Note- 97% of climate scientists did say that anthropomorphic global warming was the most likely cause for our current state. It's a good study and a fair representation of reality. Stop casting doubts about it when there are none, my guess is you haven't read it. Do you remember the denier' response? A right wing institute gathered thousands of 'scientists' who signed a petition to say that climate change was not due to human activity. Only one or two were climate scientists, most of the rest were geologists (and families), doctors and dentists (and their families, too), some had no scientific back ground at all and many were stone cold dead. Classic disinformation.

There are lots of things you can see around you show evidence of it. Firstly the thermometer, most of the hottest on record have been in the last 10. The graph of surface temperatures continues to rise. When I grew up in the 1960's there were a couple of dozen frosts a year, now I get about 1 every 3 or 4 years. Bushfires seem to be more prevalent and occurring in places that they never used to. All over the world, patterns of plant growth and animal behaviour is changing to accommodate our warming world eg Irukanji have been drifting further south down the east coast and the stinger season up north starts earlier and ends later. Shark swimming patterns have changed, plants that used to manage in Melbourne no longer do, wine growers are buying land in cooler Tasmania etc.

Go away troll you're a bit mixed up and obsessive. See you at the climate rally Friday, you can come down and heckle school kids worried about their future, that's the sort of bloke you are.Ring up Neil Mitchell and tell him you saw a protester get out of a car and then call all the protesters hypocrites and then have a good laugh with Neil about it. Then tell Neil that you know more than lifelong scientists because you saw something on the internet! You're priceless champ.

Unfortunately i won't be able to make it to your little climate rally tomorrow and join in the hysterics... i have a job.

No doubt we are going through a warmer period. Also no doubt that climate change is real. The climate on this planet has always changed.

Have you been able to find an explanation as to why earth's temperatures were much higher during the medieval period or even warmer again around the time of the ancient egyptians? I haven't.

As far as i'm concerned, unless we can accurately account for what natural forces were at play during these periods and measure what impact they are having today, i think it's impossible to determine the real influence CO2 might have.

Agree that it's important to understand these periods and that current understanding is poor. However I think it's sort of irrelevant because the current thoughts are the Medieval Warm period wasn't a global rise in temperature rather a change in patterns like how we are affected by La Nina/El Nino. Some places seem to have got drier, but not necessarily hotter, some cooler and some wetter. See next image for temperature changes.

Compared to the recent rise in temperatures, which are global.

Temp_Pattern_1999_2008_NOAA.jpg

The 'Little Ice Age' wasn't really an ice age and was characterised by cooling periods then warming for a period, then cooling. It was only about 1 degree cooler than the 20th century. It did happen during cyclical periods of decreased solar activity, the Maunder Minimum and later The Spörer Minimum so they may have played a role. Vulcanism is another suggested cause, although I generally find scientists and historians tend to underplay these sort of catastrophic events.

Unfortunately we cannot attribute global warming to high solar activity because the sun has been very quiet.

Hit the nail on the head. Witness the recent fires in Queensland, all the greenies are blaming climate change rather than the biggest contributing factor, lack of fuel reduction burning. Aside from preventing catastrophic fires, for thousands of years the aboriginals used to do it to keep things open and allow them to hunt better. Light years ahead of greenie understanding.
Climate change, climate change. Ffs, what about the fact that lightning strikes and bloody arsonists are causing them. The one at Stanthorpe was started by idiot backpackers disposing of hot ashes.

Saying that 97% of climate scientists believe in man made climate change is not evidence either.
What is a scientific fact is that the planet can warm on its own as it has done many times before.
Hardly any of them were scientists and most of them including the scientists said we were only influencing the earths climate on a minor level.

Unfortunately i won't be able to make it to your little climate rally tomorrow and join in the hysterics... i have a job.

Around 2000 businesses have backed the protest and will either have reduced staff or be closed.

So, before you claim people there are all unemployed, they’re not.

How were they measuring ocean levels rising 150 years ago?

Hobart has a tidal gauge which has changed a couple of mm over the last 130 years.

Its easy to manipulate land temp stations by cherry picking the smoothings as buildings and roads nearby get build, and as trees get removed.

No so much a marker set in stone.

Look at time lapse pictures of Sydney Observatory Hill from the 1920s compared to now.

Then look at when there were jumps in the temperature records.

Check back to the construction happening around the times of those jumps in temperature.

Or call it all a giant conspiracy of rich white men.

Do you have a link to the source of this information?

There are plenty of rich Arabs/Asians/Indians/blacks etc

Not sure why being racist relates to climate change.

Well lucky them! Hope they have a blast!
You're yesterday's man champ. Keep up the glib sarcastic responses won't you? You're way out of step with public opinion and also a misleading propagandist. Hope you're having a good laugh because we know you are superior to everyone else champ!

Public opinion isn’t the truth champ

Can you pseudo-scientists stop with this 'debate' about the science that was confirmed 20 years ago? It's like arguing that the earth is flat, it's embarrassing.
This is where you start to lie. A consensus amongst government funded bureaucrats doesn’t become a scientific fact. Never has and never will.
