What are you talking about “Demi god”?

I mean seriously. If I don’t buy into the angry guy list of irrelevant objections to an activist I am emotionally fixated on them?

I can see at least one guy who is responding emotionally. It ain’t me.

Have a look at the reef and the effects of changing temperature, and pollution.

Land clearing and development have brought koalas to the brink of functional extinction in the wild.

We identified ecosystems across Australia that have recently experienced catastrophic changes, including:
  • kelp forests shifting to seaweed turfs following a single marine heatwave in 2011;
  • the destruction of Gondwanan refugia by wildfire ignited by lightning storms in 2016;
  • dieback of floodplain forests along the Murray River following the millennial drought in 2001–2009;
  • large-scale conversion of alpine forest to shrubland due to repeated fires from 2003–2014;
  • community-level boom and bust in the arid zone following extreme rainfall in 2011–2012, and
  • mangrove dieback across a 1,000km stretch of the Gulf of Carpentaria after a weak monsoon in 2015-2016.
Of these six case studies, only the Murray River forest had previously experienced substantial human disturbance.”

christ almighty.
Firstly, drought has been conclusively proven, by our chief scientist no less and others, to have no correlation to climate change.
Bushfires are a result of idiot greens influencing policy about hazard reduction burns.

Not one single point you raised points to an ENTIRE eco-system collapsing due to the current effects of climate change.

Just hysterical screeching, like Greta.

Oh now it has to be AN ENTIRE ecosystem.

Do you know what an ecosystem is?

OK let’s hear it. What is an ecosystem?

Chief.

I'm not the one making these broad-brush statements.

Greta is.

We are being continuously asked to ignore the messenger and concentrate on her message.

I'm doing that.

Why are you stifling my free speech here?

You don’t even know what an ecosystem is, so of course you are confused by the statement that “entire” ecosystems are collapsing.

My advice is that you learn a bit of primary school science.

And there it is.

It's not about what I proclaim to know at all, it is what a 16 year old kid is lecturing to the entire world.

She's wrong, and you KNOW she's wrong, but you pick on the easy target.

Colour me surprised.

Still you don’t know what an ecosystem is.

If you did you would understand.

I will help you, first by way of example.

An ecosystem can be, say, a bommie in a reef.

You know what a bommie is?

Oh yes indeedy Chief, I know what a bommie is, and I have even caught a Coral Trout or two off one.

However, it really is a rather stupid example of an ecosystem in the context of this discussion.

Even YOU would understand that this was not what Greta the Great was referring to.

Try harder.

Ban you again?
You'd need to ban me first.

But it's just so sad. It honestly seems like we could get together and work this shit out, but certain far left groups just need their adrenaline rush, don't they?

Moving on.

So a bommie is a specific physical area.

Within that area there are living and non-living elements. These make up a system. The elements of the system are connected by flows of energy and nutrients.

The bear eats the honey. The bear shits in the woods. The shit feeds the flowering tree. The sun sheds light. The light is used by the tree for photosynthesis. The bees gather pollen from the flowers. The bees make honey. The bear eats the honey...

I almost wept at the beauty of it Chief.

You really are missing your calling as an educator.

However, AGAIN, we both know that your quaint biology lesson was not what Greta was referring to.

Funnily enough, you seem to be avoiding that.

So, moving on.

An ecosystem can be a single bommie, a tree, a forest.

It’s a perfectly acceptable word to use in a speech.

Because ecosystems ARE collapsing due to climate change. But of course you’ll redefine what you think is meant by the term until you find a little niche you can hide in.

Your own little safe space away from the threatening presence of a teenage girl.

If you want to chase each syllable of a speech down to try and prove the whole thing is incorrect, go for it.

You’re just making yourself look like a complete idiot. A complete ****ing idiot.

That's not very nice Chief and I choose to be deeply offended by your hurtful words.

Does BF offer paid counselling for the harsh words of the sites principal admin?

Again, you simply don't/can't/will not acknowledge the actual term that Greta used in her latest speech.

If an ENTIRE ecosystem in the context of Greta the Gods speech means a single coral outcrop to you, then that's fine.

It makes you look very f***ing stupid, but it's still fine.

Sleep well.

It’s OK that you don’t understand.

What is sad is that you don’t even want to. You prefer your safe space and the political correctness of your local population.

Good morning Chief. Just back from feeding some of my drought affected cows. A drought which has NO correlation whatsoever to climate change.

It's funny how you think my 'local population' is so politically correct.

You really don't know much about country people it seems.

Climate change.;)

But are you qualified?

In the Climate Change arguing thread someone asked if I had a science background. I answered them here :arrowright: #317. I didn't do much study on climate science though and certainly didn't major in it. So I'm not qualified to publish a journal article on the issue but neither were many of the IPCC's famous 2,500. A large number of them weren't climate scientists. Many of them were just politico-bureaucrats & green activists.

I wouldn't normally ask this because I don't see it as being relevant to commenting on the issue on a football forum, but since you've asked me, what's your science background? Just for the sake of interest alone.

The climate science shows less surface area in a state of drought and lower levels of cyclone/typhoons but that doesn't fit the narrative.

Australia's own BOM stats show both the number and severity of cyclones dropping. Whoops.

It's a discipline of mindboggling complexity.

There needs to be a lot more basic chemistry experimentation shown to the public in order for them to grasp the impacts of what is evolving here.
