Good. I look forward to reading the response in part 1 vs. the response he receives in part 2.

He'll probably get death threats.
So it doesn’t concern you that the denial movement is solely driven by rich conservative interests?

It sounds to me like large area landholders will be able to sell credits in their land to either offset or reclaim carbon into the earth by some means.
Or nuclear power something something.

Uranium mining would be massive for the WA economy.... and save the world.

I really think the political wings should be having the same support for it.

Left - It will save the world... and be good for the economy so the state can trickle down more cash
Right - It will be good for the economy... and save the world

Forgetting the catastrophic environmental effects should it fail.

It will be a long time before nuclear is politically viable and by then we will have better renewable technology.

As I've said before, if carbon emissions are so globally devastating then the world would sacrifice the entire land of Australia to save the rest, without hesitation if offered the chance to flick their fingers and the method of power generation for the last twenty years could have been changed from coal to nuclear.

The risk of localised destruction should something go wrong, either environmentally or incompetent staff, is a better bet than the sure thing of the whole world burning.

Personally, I think that even if fusion power were invented today and ready to build tomorrow the same people would be protesting that because it's nuclear power, but more importantly it maintains the generation of a vital resource in the hands of big business.

Why would it concern me?

Of course it's happening. Just like I pointed out - it's happening in the reverse too. Newsflash - rich people want to protect their bank accounts!!! Shocking revelation. What are we going to do about it? Ban them? Some it provides balance. It's important to have people looking into the data and keeping others in check. It's very easy to say conservatives are funding this = bad when they might be paying people to check the results of certain researchers or organisations (case in point - Professor Mann's research).

And so what? The important thing is that people understand that there is big money at play here so don't believe everything you read. Make your own conclusions. But of course, people won't and nor will you because you have zero interest in balance.

Anyone see that lefty nutter talking about we gotta eat kids and babies for the future to stop climate change to that weirdo Cortez?

Wow just wow,

This is what’s its coming to with the brainwashed youth of today.

Okay, now on to reality.

Work on oceanic microalgae farming/CO2 sequestration holds some promise.

There's also other stuff in the works. A plant that does the work of 40,000,000 trees.

I admire your optimism Snake, however and I've stated this earlier in the thread - we've had far more efficient and friendly alternative for 100+ years probably longer.

The reason fossil fuels still rule to this day is greed, a very fallible human trait. Fossil fuel producing companies have the world over a barrel since refining began because of greed.

Admittedly we are slowly going in the opposite direction because of the noise but it's probably too late. With all of your posts with brilliant alternative energy production and sources - they'll only get a gig if it proves more profitable than carbon emitting energies.

If dollars wins it for them then there is hope, until none of them will be looked at.

Old mate Dutt's wants to put people in jail for stopping traffic. The SS is back in town. Authoritarianism over a subservient, unquestioning society. Just the way the LNP prefers it.

Mr Dutton also called for mandatory sentencing of protesters disrupting traffic and shutting down cities.

“If there needs to be mandatory sentences … the state government can pass laws that do reflect community standards and, at the moment, they don’t,” Mr Dutton said.

Locking people up for a protest.

That's some echo chamber you want to live inside.

I just love this.

You're on you're way home and some dickheads block a major intersection for a few hours and you're stuck in the traffic jam because of the... protest.

Yeah...and you're sitting there waiting and cheering them on.

Like f*** you are.
