Science/Environment Climate change predictions that were wrong

Most global climate predictions from climate models have been correct, regional predictions are much harder and more likely to be incorrect.
  • Global Temperature Rise: this is a fact, it's been going up for 150 years and continues to accelerate. Denying it is simply a lie.

  • Sea Level Rise: this is happening as predicted, although last year the jump was a bit greater than predicted, NASA reporting a rate of 0.23 inches (0.59 centimeters) last year, exceeding the expected 0.17 inches (0.43 centimeters). The Insurers are certainly paying attention to this as are the poor folks of Tuluva who won't have anywhere to live in a few decades. Most of our cities are on the coast and this will cause huge problems as we move through the century.

  • Melting Glaciers - proven fact.

  • Changes in Extreme Weather: this is also happening and is now well documented. Only the shills in the Australian try to deny this.
  • Marine heatwaves, ocean acidification & anoxia: the rising ocean temperatures are well documented and the tragedy unfolding in South Australia shores is a result of them, and is exactly as predicted. This is the future if we don't reduce our green house gases.

Worrying about the snow season is really concern misplaced and using it to show global warming predictions are incorrect is simply stupid or deliberate disinformation.

Ah the one where they said there’d be no snow by now, or the one about no rain to fill the dams were way worse.
Surely you're not still conned by the anti science flat earther propaganda aimed at conning the gullible and stupid? You must realise by now how terribly foolish and wrong you were.

Not really M6.
The climate changes as it always has. What annoys me is the hysteria and ridiculous predictions scientist with financial interest love making all the time.

Govt funding, grants. Who do you think pay the wages?
Because grants are dependent upon demonstrating the impacts of AGW. funny how the studies sponsored by energy companies also came to the same conclusions (much to their disappointment).

So which of these basic facts do you disagree with?

CO2 et al reflect and trap solar radiation; and
Increasing the energy absorption of a system can increase its temperature?

Govt funding, grants. Who do you think pay the wages?

Ah yes.

The belief that the totality of the world's climate scientists and academics are not only corrupt but have all bandied together as part of a giant global conspiracy funded by 'the elites', with only the brave and humble Oil, Coal and Fossil fuel industries having the courage to tell the truth.

What world do you cookers live in where the lunacy of these beliefs don't instantly hit you in the nards?

Govt funding, grants. Who do you think pay the wages?
Billionaire elites that they are. Luckily subsistence multinationals have got brave warriors like you to defend their interests :thumbsu:
Thanks for sharing your insights. Your contributions would be greatly appreciated in this thread:

You dropkicks love putting words in peoples mouths, I'll leave you lot to yourselves.

Dude, you tried to claim that climate scientists are willfully publishing false (peer reviewed, by the rest of the scientific community, so those other scientists all must be in on it too) papers in order to secure funding from some kind of 'wealthy benefactor' who is willfully proving money to these same climate scientists with a 'wink and a nod' that those papers and studies support climate change (presumably so these wealthy benefactors paying for these falsified papers to get written can make a profit selling renewable energy, or for some other nefarious reason).

The actual reality is that fossil fuel companies are the ones spending a shitload of money to hoodwink people (like you) who don't understand science, into thinking the above paragraph above is actually plausible, to the extent you literally just parroted it in a thread on social media as if it was a real thing.

Sadly, you're so caught up on one side of the ideological war you cant see the obvious staring you straight in the face.

I bolded the bits where you "quoted me" in inverted commas to prove my point about putting words in my mouth.

That was your inference dude.

That groups exist that not only that give out grants (i.e. have money) and this causes climate scientists and other academics to post 'biased' peer reviewed scientific papers (that somehow are not torn to shreds by thousands of other scientists via peer review) that falsely exaggerate climate change.

This clearly presupposes that the academic desiring the money is of the view that the 'money givers' want to see a pro climate change article (for some reason).

Screw it, you can fill in the gaps for me, so I don't put words in your mouth.

Answer me this:

1) Who is/are the 'wealthy group' that have something to gain from the exaggeration of climate change, and that hand out grants to climate scientists?

2) Who are the specific climate scientists that (you assert) have been bought off by the first group? Give me name or two (they should be pretty easy to identify seeing as their papers would have been lambasted by the rest of the scientific community). If you can't give me a name, at least give me a rough percentage of how many climate scientists you think have been compromised by the lure of 'grant money'.

When you realize you can't actually answer any of those questions because the first and second group don't exist, we can then move on to talk about the actual wealthy group (as in 'trillions of dollars') that does exist (and has both a vested interest in promoting fossil fuels and downplaying climate change along with a fiduciary duty to shareholders to do exactly this) and who are actually pissing a ton of money into spreading anti climate change bullshit.

Including the bullshit that you seem to believe, and that I am calling you out on here.

The Climate always changes. Human activities are not influencing the global climate in a perceptible way. Climate will continue to change, as it always has in the past, warming and cooling on different time scales and for different reasons, regardless of human action. Humans are too insignificant to change anything on this planet that has been around for 4.5 billion years and homosapiens have been here just 300,000 years? That's less than a blink of the eye in the overall time scale of this planet's history. This little blue ball floating around in space has been through a lot worse than humans in all this time.

Are you really that dumb or are you just trolling?

So, all of the world's Climate scientists... are wrong?

It’s just an example of how clickbait journalism poisons everything. Sure some predictions put forward by some individuals haven’t panned out. Idiots will point at these instances and claim they are the smoking gun that tell us climate change isn’t real.

But still, we are 1.5C hotter, and we are in big trouble in the coming decades. Fact.
