34 weather stations in the UK record highest ever temperatures

The cognitive dissonance you've got to have these days to pretend climate change isn't happening is staggering.

If Revelations was real he would surely be the Anti Christ.

Greed and self importance.

Make no mistake, if Pauline Hanson could string a sentence together we'd be in the same boat.

Well not quite.

If Pauline Hanson was generationally megarich within the business elite and could string a sentence together.

Speaking of whom, haven't seen or heard from her in ages. Perhaps she has decided to lay low for once.

On the one hand... carbon neutral?

(bullshit)

On the other, this is where all the money is going that could solve problems?

What the absolute **** is that lol

Maybe stop building unsustainable shit in the desert might be a good idea. Living inside a bubble when it's 50 degrees outside sounds dystopian

Oil exports, desalinisation, nuclear power, stupidly ridiculous concepts for cities... some of those middle east nations for forging ahead in to the 21st century.

When we stayed in big and showy Dubai for a couple of nights on our way to Europe and saw the workers toiling away outside in 44 degree heat we went to a shopping mall and found a massive snow and ice arena in there. The amount of energy required to maintain that would surely be insane.

Maybe if she planted some trees instead of 'adopting' existing ones my eyebrow wouldn't be quite as raised. She's stopped driving race cars now, so that certainly helps...

What a rabble

The future of the the Liberal Party🤦‍♂️

Related? Maybe chooks don't burp...

Funnily enough, chickens don't burp. Chook owners shouldn't feed their cabbage scraps because it can create gasses in their stomachs that they aren't able to expel through burping - which can kill them. Responsible chook owners should be aware of this.

Clive Palmer invested approx $100 million in the Federal election (we know why) and failed miserably.
Has to pay McGowan $20 thousand for defamation ( whilst receiving $5k from McGowan.)
And now Plibersek is using the EPCB Act to preliminarily refuse his coal mine.

43% isn't great but it's a start and at least an attempt to do something, in contrast with the scum on the other side. On the whole as a global society we've kinda pissed away the last 20 years not doing enough. In 100 years it's going to be a very different planet. I feel like future generations are going to have animosity towards the stupid and greed of the current generations. There is no planet B

Stupidity will always exist and greed is only increasing with wealth inequity.

I can't see many people of the future putting themselves and their lifestyle aside to do better to compensate for mistakes of the past.

Then again, I've bashed heads here before with people who think environmentalism is 99% a government responsibility and you can't blame people for wanting a green world, a European holiday, and a new landcruiser V6 every few years. The government just needs to ban petrol engines rather than people change habits to be more sustainable.

If you have the time, take a listen to this podcast. It gives what I think is a great account of how after WW2 governments and industry sucked us all in to the need to consume stuff to grow the economy. Buying new stuff and replacing rather than recycling was their message until very recently.

I know it is not considered vogue to agree with Papa G but his views on the inner city teal politicians who's attitude toward climate change is 'can't someone else do it?', is better than nothing of the Morrison government, but no doubt they live their own quite unsustainable not carbon friendly lifestyles.

Whatever happened to 'be the change you want to see in the world?'

I'll give it a go.

I've long been against getting new stuff if it is excessive and avoidable, I know that's a matter of interpretation, but what happens to the world when people decide they need less stuff? The world is largely built on providing stuff, much of which is not perishable and should not need replacement.
