Climate Change, IMO this is undeniable fact, why else would they have it at the end of the news every day..![]()
In Melbourne, we have had three days over 30 in December, which is lower than usual. Also, Melbourne don't seem to have the bushfires and heat that NSW and QLD do, and have more rain.
Maybe climate change skipped Melbourne and Tasmania.
This is such a disingenuous post. You say that this isn't a rational argument, yet you haven't rationally refuted even one of my points.
If my points are so stupid, you should have no problems in proving me wrong.
Instead, you just dismissing them without discussion smacks of sticking your fingers in your ears, closing your eyes, and pretending that it will all go away.

Okay, let me explain this.
Referring to past climate change proves that climate change is not only MAN-MADE, which is the opposite to what many climate change advocates say.
It also shows that it is a natural occurence, and we are limited to what we can do to stop it, like we are limited to stopping natural disasters occuring around the world.
What my argument has to do with nuclear war and Y2K is that, I am old enough to remember the whole "nuclear fear" of the 80's, and it was EXACTLY like this. The same arguments, the same protests (and, unlike, climate change, which will kill future generations, since we will all be long gone before it "wipes out the world", nuclear war could wipe out the world in a matter of days).
Yet, what happened? You never hear about it now, despite neither USA or Russia getting rid of their nuclear weapons. North Korea are testing nuclear weapons, and no-one even raises an eyebrow.
Y2K, the same thing. All the hype was that it would destroy the world, by having planes drop out of the sky, machines not working etc. It was talked about like it was the end of civilisation. All computers were meant to go haywire, and send us into darkness.
Yet, what happened? NOTHING! Again, it was a "scare campaign", which, when it happened, turned out to be hype.
Maybe people can only cry "wolf" so many times. Based on the past, why will this be any different? It looks more like an excuse for lefties to find another reason to skip work to protest.
Media outlets build up these issues, and give voice to cranks, to create fear in society, so that they can have society eating out of their hand.
Besides, a lot of the main advocates are hypocrites. How did Al Gore get to his speaking engagements, when promoting "The Convienient Truth"? By a rowboat? No, by plane, which pours out heaps of ruinous gas into the atmosphere.
If more practiced what they preached, and I can see evidence in it in their lifestyle, even to the point of sacrifice, I might admire their passion and even get on board, but while Leonardo DiCaprio and other celebrities board planes and continue to live like they normally do, but then tell the rest of us to change our daily lives, I think I will continue to live the same way, thank you very much. I put recyclables in the recycle bin. I do my part.
The flat earth mention shows that scientists aren't ALWAYS right. So, if they got that wrong, then whose to say that they aren't wrong about this as well. It is up to them to prove their analysis, not up to us to swallow it, hook, line and sinker, because they have a degree and a lab coat.
Also, my point is about curing cancer is that this is something that would benefit people now, today. Why focus on something that won't happen for hundreds of years, when there are people dying now, from a terminal disease? Besides, they ask for all this money for research, and we have yet to see a cure for even ONE form of cancer. We need to expect more bang for our buck, and tell them to focus on what they can change today, and spend our money better, and not worry about something that might occur when they are long gone from this earth. I bet if he or she had a relative dying from cancer, that scientist would suddenly change their focus.
So, argue against these points, if you can. If my points are invalid, then you should have no problems shooting them down. But your response is just to dismiss any argument opposed to your "narrow-minded" view.

This is such a disingenuous post.
You're the one arguing against consensus. The points you are making have been trivially refuted millions of times on the internet. Why should anyone waste a single second of their time arguing against something that is well established as incorrect?
Catters is the reason democracy is f’ed.
Giving everyone a vote is fine if you assume that everyone is a rational logical educated human being.
reality says not.
Yeah, because what you read on the internet is never wrong, is it?
It's a poor society when you take everything you read on the internet as gospel.
Hey, I'm writing this on the internet, so, based on your argument, I must be right.
Also, my points may have been refuted millions of times on the internet, yet you have failed to use any of those arguments to refute my points.
Go live in a dictatorship then.
Good luck writing your posts and not winding up dead the next day.
I rationally refuted every single one. You’re just ignoring reality
again. The climate changed in the past over vast periods of time.
They are now changing far quicker. what part of that do you think is not true?
The rate that it is changing is not normal.
the nuclear fear of the 80’s as you put it is completely different.
also, people were right to be afraid
do you dispute that it is widely known as fact that the US and Russia came very close to launching their nukes at each other?
Do you dispute that the fear then led to both superpowers massively scaling back their nuclear programmes?
Both are factual history.
also, maybe don’t use an example were fears were founded and led to positive change in your argument against people calling for action on climate change. Lol.
you reckon North Korea testing weapons hasn’t raised an eyebrow? Are you living under a rock?
Y2K was nothing like climate change either and it’s moronic to compare the two.
What is this bullshit about al gore catching a plane? What is he gonna do? Row a ******* boat across the sea?
someone can use a ******* plane or car and still recognise that scientists have presented relevant data and campaign for us to make changes
who is this mythical person or people who have this extraordinary money and power to have this influence and please please point out what real physical benefit they have to make from fooling people into thinking climate change is real?
he’s not referring to the opinion of some internet random, he’s talking about the millions of times nutjobs have had it pointed out to them that the science has proven climate change is real.
Hasn’t refuted your points? I refuted your points, all of which were opinion based with zero supporting facts.
your stance was that climate has always changed , which I pointed out is ignorant of the fact that the climate is changing at an unseen rate
and your other point, if it could be called such was that this is some scare campaign led by some mythical person or people for some reason you’re yet to explain.
quote where I’ve advocated for a dictatorship. Good luck.
I’ve pointed out what is wrong with a democracy.
Who says that the climate is changing quicker? Provide charts, facts and figures of the past and now to back up your claim.
If a nuclear holocaust is SO scary, then how come people aren't worried about it now? They haven't got rid of all nuclear warheads, and can you trust Trump or Putin to not press the button?
Both superpowers may have scaled back their weapons, but they still have some. I thought that we would want ALL nuclear weapons gone before feeling safe.
So, if "scaling back" is sufficient, then why not allow a bit of climate change? Why scale back our lifestyles completely?
The fears weren't founded because nothing happened. Also, if the fears were founded, then people would still be scared of a nuclear holocaust, considering that there are still weapons around (and North Korea now have them), yet you hear no-one ever express any fear about it anymore, because they aren't hearing about it in the press.
Yes, Gore should have rowed a boat, if he believed that the climate is so fragile. It is up to him and his ilk to not just talk the talk, but walk the walk. He and others need to set the example, and demonstrate what they are doing to change things. Talking about it isn't enough. BTW, what are YOU doing to save the enviroment?
So, you have no problem with someone showing hypocrisy?
It is the media outlets, who make money, sell newspapers, and get talkback callers, by creating "feelings" in their listeners and readers- feelings such as "fear".
Fear is the most influential way to get people to fall into line. People like Hitler, Stalin and others have used it to control people. Fear of the law makes people fall into line. A fear of authority makes people do things to appease.
It is well-known that people will act, in times of fear, differently than they would at any other time. Sometimes, it makes people act braver for self-preservation. Other times, people sell out their values and belief systems to please others.
I get why climate change is the big topic. It has become the "popular" thing, and people go along with what is popular, even if they don't agree with it, because they want to be liked and agreed with, and don't want to be bullied or put down online, like you are trying to do to me. But I am not a chickenshit, so I stand by what I have said, and you need to do more than name-call or belittle to make me change my thoughts. Rational discussion, disecting my points, and proving me wrong with evidence, will go further, than trying to shut me down.
The media, governments, and peer groups use "fear" to get people to look for a solution, a "solution" they provide. You have been told that protesting, or changing things, is going to stop climate change. You believe scientists, because of ....reasons. You have been conditioned to think this way, because a lie repeated often enough starts to look like the truth.
"Nutjobs".
So anyone who disagrees with you is a "nutjob".
You think Y2K was a scare campaign? You know why nothing happened at Y2K? Because people listened to those who actually knew what they were talking about and they fixed things.Y2K, the same thing. All the hype was that it would destroy the world, by having planes drop out of the sky, machines not working etc. It was talked about like it was the end of civilisation. All computers were meant to go haywire, and send us into darkness.

On the topic of climate change and the move to greener & renewable energy, what is happening in California at the moment is an example of how not to do it.
Lol the state is on fire, what do you want?
Transmission lines getting f’ed up will happen no matter what the power source is.

134 sudden unexpected deaths in Vancouver, likely due to heat stroke.
For decades climate change has been flagged as the biggest threat to ongoing human society across the next generations, but the emperors have continued to fiddle as Rome burns.
Putting the last couple of days to one side 90 percent of the previous temperature records in Canada were pre 1950s
That's what they would call an anomalyAnd?
