Not sure about that, I'm under 40 but to me the weather patterns have changed significantly since I was a kid. The numbers of 40+ days in Adelaide have gone up, humidity has gone up, and there are now more storms in summer.

Prior to the last couple years of ill nino or whatevers it is, Broken Hill had returned to the weekly dust storms that had been eradicated since the 60s via a successful campaign to vegetate the outskirts of the city and minimise lose dry soil.

Even the biggest anti greens idiot would admit it.

We've just had our 13th 40+ day for the summer in Perth, with 5 other days 38 or 39. Seems when we get a typical hot weather pattern (high in the Bight, trough down the coast) we get a frickin heat wave - 6 days in a row over Christmas, another 6 Days in a row in January (all over 40) and the last 2 days over 40.

I can't remember it that hot for that long, so it must be climate change, although they said on the weather that it was the most number of 38+ days since 1961 or thereabouts, so I don't know what caused it back then - all the nuclear testing going on in those days probably.

27 and rain forecast for tomorrow - first in about six weeks.

There's still late Feb & March to come but we've had fukc all 40's and beyond in Adelaide this summer.

You'll have to rug up mate.

I tend to lose my appetite in this sort of weather (excluding beer), but there's hardly any food to buy in the shops anyway, thanks to the climate change floods you had in SA a couple of weeks ago taking the road and rail lines out.

Woolies have started sending food ships, but they take 10 days to get here.

An amazing website, under development still, identifying world wide sites for coal mines, gas fired power stations, solar installations ....via drop down menus and interactive maps. As indicated , not fully developed yet. It looks like more info will come online in Q2 2022. Global coal mine info appears to be complete. Gas as well.

The cost of petrol is going to drive EVs up for sure.
But I think the first stop, at least in flat as a tack Adelaide, may be ebikes.

Btw there needs to be more evaluation of rules and penalties for ebikes. Riding my pushie in a downhill section of Torrens Linear Park the other day, I was approached by an ebike moving UPHILL at maybe 40kph.
I know there are speed restrictions already but they arent being enforced

Why e-bikes?

We can go the way of many places in our part of the world and even move to more motorbikes on road.

****, cars in the country have been getting bigger for years, maybe a lot of people don't actually need as many four wheel drives and twin cabs as current get around on Aussie roads?

I nearly put a brick through the tv last night - after telling us all week how we were going to SMASH the record for the number of days over 35 this summer (which we did), and how summer's going to go out with a bang with another hot one on Monday, we're finally supposed to be getting a few days in a row with a 2 in front of them, and the weatherperson says, "So make the most of this warm weather."

Looking forward to sleeping in the bed instead of on it.

If you don't leave suburbia for 3 months you should have ya four wheel drive confiscated.

Just north of Brisbane - has not stopped raining since Thursday afternoon. 148mm on Friday, 184 yesterday. Rain gauge today at my house shows 390mm since midnight and still bucketing down - doesn’t look like letting up.

The Wilsons River has left a trail of destruction, inundating all of Lismore, leaving hundreds stranded on top their roofs.
The area has recorded around 700mm in the space of 24 hours resulting in a significant river rise, currently at 13.5m.

700mm in 24 hours, jesus christ. my cousin's place flooded with about 5 foot of water through the downstairs. furniture floating down the road.
