I was hoping GremioPower might offer some more thoughts on this.

It ain't half hot Mum.

I got up this morning at 5.00 a.m. and the temperature was 37.7 degrees. At 10.15 am it is 41.5 degrees which is already above the BOM predicted maximum where I live. At that rate I reckon Adelaide will get close to 50 degrees Celsius today.

Meanwhile in the US they are bracing for temperatures of -30 Celsius and the cold has already claimed 28 lives.

Climate change affects us all.

Marree 49.8 today... Still waiting for some campaigner to hit 50. Maybe tomorrow is the day
Marble Bar say they are soft. It was 51 there, 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Oodnadatta average max 41.8 for the month of January so far

But soafraid, I hear you say, it's always hotter than the devils campaigner up there!

True true, you're not wrong there, however the average max for January is actually 38.0, based on almost 90 years of continuous weather observations. So almost a whopping 4 degrees above average.

Bloody hot, I'd say.

Record keeping is for nerds. Hot weather is hot; it's not that complicated.

I would go out with the angle grinder, but there's nothing but dirt to burn.
