His degenerative knee condition has forced him to retire, according to the HUN.

Tragic. Such a shame that his promising career far has been cut short like this.
BREAKING NEWS: MELBOURNE midfielder Clint Bartram has retired at just 24, the victim of a degenerative knee condition which has already required experimental surgery.

The former Rising Star nominee has battled through the pain of a bone-on-bone knee and in August had last-ditch surgery to extend his career.

Unfortunately barty has announced his retirement due to his knee injury. Was never going to be a world beater but always gave his all. Best of luck to Clint for life after football.

Just saw that on twitter, really sad for the bloke.

At least he finishes his career considered a leader by his peers & his coaches. Testament to the character of the man.

Have no doubt he will remain involved with the club in some capacity.. Never a champion, but thanks for giving your all

No world beater, but 100% dedication, and a great example to others

Hope he sticks around the club

All the best Clint

:( too bad for Bartram and the club. Hope he still has enough of a knee to live the rest of his life. Scheiße, only 24, he's one of the few who were older than me.

Genuinely sad to see him finished at such an early age. Hope he remains at the club in some capacity, because you could never question his endeavour or work ethic.

He's a good example to the young players who may take their AFL careers for granted. Make the most of it while you can, because you never know what's around the corner.

Was going to make a thread on the Main Board, but thought better of it. LOLOLOL spud ploddder tanking king ha!

Best wishes to Barty.

He is just the sort of bloke you want on your list - may not have been the best disposer of the footy but gave everything he had, was well respected around the club and you always knew what you were going to get from him.

All the best to him and, like others have said, I hope he is able to stick around the club in the some capacity.

Gee that's sad news. What a terrible way to go out for a bloke who's only 24!

All the best Clint, your hardness, dedication and no-nonsense attitude will be missed.

terrible news, hope he stays at the club in some development capacity. He can show the young guys how to play for your club

Don't imagine we'll see much of Biff on this thread.

Here's an idea, support our boys throughout the bad and good - we never know what's going on.

Best of luck to him, a soldier in a team of cream puffs. His first season was particularly good until he got injured.

This sucks but 2012 has been like that so I'm not overly surprised. Best of luck to him, he had the kind of attitude the rest of players need.

First picked for me. Typified the spirit we so often lacked. Good luck Clint.
