I've been saying it for a while now, he should stay for another year or two, he has been great since coming back this year and been pivotal in the backline. People have only been calling for him to be given the chop because he is too old, which is ridiculous as his form this year certainly says he deserves another year at the MFC.
If he is kept next year he will be very handy in a backline that will regain Whelan, Rivers and Bell.
Thoughts?

I get the feeling that the new coach will want a clean slate, so to speak, so he will want to get rid of the +30 crew. Bizzell is out of contract and will be 31 years old next season, so his head will probably be on the chopping block.

I think we need to look to the future though. Why play Bizzell next year when we won't win a flag, when we could be giving a young player some valuable experience. Same for the likes of Holland, Ward and Brown. If we want to move forward, we have to invest in our youth. Unfortunately this will mean the end for some of our loyal servants but your head must rule your heart.

1 more year I reckon.

Not a long term option though so shouldnt be played before the likes of Frawley, Garland in '08 though.

Had a top game today though.

So you're saying next year don't play Bizzell even if he is best 22 material and give a kid a go?
I just don't see the point of not playing a guy whose been our best defender (After Belly but he's injured) this year and holds the backline together at times.
I can understand the 'play the kids' idea but we already are with half our team out.

Tough one. I dont really like fence sitting but I'm a bit that way on whether Bizz should go again. I would like to see how he goes for the remainder. He was very, very good yesterday. His help of his team mates by zoning off at the right time is second to none. If I had to give an answer I would probably say that as long as he's in the side to assist Frawley, Garland and others and not keeping them out he should stay.

The Bizz took the 2nd highest amount of marks this week, had the most contested possessions and one of the few players in the team who stays cool under pressure.
I don't care if he is 41 next year, if he keeps contributing, keep him.

Look it is a hard call. I am definately of the opinion that Holland, Brown and Ward should go. Do we get rid of Bizzell or will this leave us too vulnerable? Possibly so.

Next year we will have the following options:

Carroll, Rivers, Bell, Whelan, Wheatley, Frawley and possibly the likes of Ferguson and Miller. We probably could use Bizzell, it would be good to have him as insurance. Then again, there might be someone in trade week or in the PSD that we pick up.

In conclusion, I am still undecided on his future but I don't think he will play a massive part in 2008.

He is still effectively a depth player, as he plays the same role as Rivers. Therefore he should be kept next year, but not on very high contract (if possible, don't know if he's out of contract). He'll also be more than handy as a tutor to the likes of Garland and Frawley.
