I know it's all over the main board but I want to post my thoughts here too.

Along with Bruce McAvaney, he has been my favourite all-time caller.

An absolute tragedy. I can't believe it.

Life sucks sometimes.

This is just too sad. He was without doubt one of the best commentators. And he was only 32. A sad, sad day for football.

RIP Clinton Andrew Grybas (9 Febuary 1975 – 5 January 2008)

holy crap. That sucks. I didn't know who at first you were talking too ( I am not good with names)...But for anyone wondering this is Clinton. Good commentator on Fox.

As I said on the Main Board, shocking news. I am shattered. He was the best commentator over the last few years. He made you forget he was a Collingwood supporter and my sundays will not be the same. :(

For those that haven't seen the main board, Clinton apparently fell off a ladder at his apartment. When he didn't show up to work, they called his home and then sent someone around. An ambulance was called but he was pronounced dead.

That’s only Big Footy speculation. There is also another rumour going around where 3AW Shane Bond allegedly asks the question with a fantastic career ahead of him and a fiancé “why would he do it”. Inferring to suicide.

Was listening to AA earlier, and Greg Sanders and Wayne Phillips had a lengthy interview with Graham Bond. He said that he was late for work (very out of character) they became worried when he was 30 mins late.

A 3AW employee went around there and Clinton was found in bed. Also was mentioned that earlier in the year he had had an episode where he had awoken with a huge bump on his head, this was investigated and was said he sleep walks???

Bondy made it sound like it may be neurological, but then heard him on fox i think it was stating why???

I hope my instinct is wrong and it was a medical situation.

So sad, he was my favorite commentator, just loved him :(

Latest reports on the Main Board from the news in Melbourne is that there were no suspicious circumstances reported.

Just seen adelaide girls update. It is very sad whatever the circumstances.

Sports commentator Clinton Grybas dies

January 5, 2008 - 5:25PM

Melbourne-based sports commentator Clinton Grybas has died, aged 32.

Grybas was a commentator with pay TV channel Fox Sports and radio station 3AW in Melbourne.

Staff at 3AW became concerned this morning when he failed to turn up early to prepare to host the Sports Today show.

He was found at his apartment and rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

General manager of 3AW, Graham Mott, said his death had not yet sunk in.

"He's just one of those genuinely brilliant people who is very good at what he did and a terrific bloke as well.

"At a time like this, while you can think about the wonderful things he did it's still hard to get over the fact he's gone, no longer with us.

"We wish his family and friends the best at a most difficult time for everybody," Mott said.

Grybas started his sports journalism career with ABC Radio in 1995 after studying journalism at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, according to a profile on 3AW's website.

He spent five AFL seasons with the ABC before moving to 3AW in 2001, where he covered all major sports and events.

He was named AFL broadcaster of the year in 2005 and was also an AFL commentator on pay TV channel Foxtel.

According to the internet profile, Grybas said his favourite on air moment was calling Australia's victorious women's water polo final at the Sydney Olympics.

"Australia won on a last second shot, 17,000 people were going crazy and the call was apparently excellent, or so I have been told often by people who can remember exactly where they were when they heard it," he said.

It is not known how he died.

Grybas would have turned 33 next month.

Colleague Graham Bond spoke tearfully about losing his friend and fellow commentator.

"To lose a friend, a colleague, a brilliant talent, someone I've worked closely with for the last seven years, and I was just really looking forward to another season with Clinton on 3AW football and on the sports department," he told Fairfax Radio Network.

"He's been a fantastic supporter of the station, of the team, of the staff and everyone around here, and to come in this morning and to find that Clinton wasn't at his desk at 10 o'clock.

"He was just a fantastic person to work with and I just knew that there was something up because Clinton has never, never ever not been at his desk at least two hours before his show.

"It's a tragic loss, because he had so much going for him, he was just a brilliant broadcaster, he had all his future ahead of him, he had a wonderful girlfriend, a fantastic family, and we just ask the question, why?

"We're still coming to grips with it, it's been so hard ringing around his friends and to break the news.

"It's come as a shock to so many people because it's something you just don't expect, to come to work and find that someone who was here (Friday) night working and diligently going about his business at the station, just wasn't able to be here today to be part of it and might never be here again."

Bond said Grybas possessed an unsurpassed ability to cover any sport.

"Whatever we threw to Clinton he was able to handle," he said. "He lived for his job, he loved his sport, he loved everything about what he did and it's such a sad loss that he's not going to be able to continue doing that."

Cricket Australia paid tribute to Grybas.

"Cricket Australia and cricket in general are deeply saddened by the passing of Clinton Grybas today," CA chief executive James Sutherland said.

"He spent many hours working for two of our broadcast partners on our sport, was a talented broadcaster and liked by members of the Australian cricket team who he regularly interviewed post-match.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time."

Met him in Melbourne a few years ago. Nice bloke and very down to earth. A very sad day.

RIP Clinton. Condolences to all of his friends, family and the sport spectating community who will greatly miss his talents.

I still remember wondering what the heck a guy with his abilities was doing covering the fading NBL way back in the day.

Just a tragedy.

Oh yeah lets all just speculate how it happened like we all know what happened. The guy has passed away so lets just leave it as is for the coroner to decide how it happened, great commentator and will b sadly missed especially by his family and friends but also everyone who knew him as a very fine young commentator and host.

Will be sadly and sorely missed by all.

The only reason I was able to watch Fox Footy. Due to our hot conditions I have been living under a rock today and I had no idea that this had occured until 20 minutes ago, I hadnt seen any news broadcasts and dont read many main board threads, I even thought this thread was about how good a commentator he was.

Extremely sad news for the entire footy world and Australian sports community, this guy could call any sport around. Fox Footy will definetly not be the same again, one of the best has gone.

R.I.P Clinton Grybas :(

still can't believe it, he was simply the best afl commentator going around, by a considerable distance. the game is poorer for his passing :(

Pretty sad, given how young he was and the career ahead of him.

While he wasn't my favourite AFL commentator I wonder who is going to replace him at Foxtel.
