Clinton Young - Thoughts?

So we're basically offering Young an extra $28,000 p/a with a guaranteed extra year. That's arguably $84,000 extra across three years provided the Hawks actually continued his contract into 2015 at the same price.

I'm not sure how significant this amount is as far as Young is concerned, but you'd have to feel more wanted in a team that's offering this extra money and security. We wouldn't be offering $350,000 if he wasn't going to be a walk-up starter to our 22.

Then there's the facilities etc which are only getting better - which he would have seen earlier this week, etc. I'm sure Eddie could hook him up with a cheap Lexus...

Still confident in this. Just thinking Dawes could be holding it up.

You kind of just answered your own question there. However I feel that there's no chance we'd come out and say "we're waiting for Dawes to move on so we have the salary cap space" because then it would be beaten up in the media about us choosing Young over Dawes, etc.

Perhaps we can't fit both? Who knows.

The Hawks have offered Young a 15% increase on his salary which was 280k and a 2 year deal.

Pies I believe have offered 350k a year for 3 years.

Ball is in his court and you can rule out PA.

I'm not sure how anyone knows the figures except the parties involved.

If however they are accurate i'd be pretty damn livid we were paying that for Young.

He simply isn't worth that money and we have other priorities in our cap.

Surely $350,000 isn't all that much since they increased the cap recently. I wouldn't be surprised if Wellingham was on similar? You'd expect similar output from both players after all.

Yes it is. $350,000 is a significant contract. It is around what Beams is on. We could get much better value than Young for that and certainly not for 3 years.

Thomas was very decisive in choosing Gold Coast whereas Young seems to be procrastinating.

You've got that wrong - all we know of Young's pay is that he is not in the top 25% at Hawthorn. Or to put it another way, he is definitely in the lowest paid 75%.
