Couple of interesting points in that article by Ralph one is that the Pies are committed to giving a rookie spot to that Young former basketball player Richmond because of his testing at the club.

The other point is that the futures of BJ and Wood will be decided after the trade period,I also hope Johnson does get another contract and agree his commitment is still high as was shown by his desire to get back from shoulder surgery.Wood I think might be on shaky ground if some of our other decisions this trade period are anything to go by.

Thank god the Young affair must end this week it has really dragged out and it just goes to show it is very hard to leave a club when you have been there your whole career.

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited and I just can't hide it
And I know I know I know I know I know I want you
We shouldn't even think about tomorrow

Note to AFL:

Free Agency - 30 Sep - 11 Oct 2013

Next year, have a 2 week free agent period, in which any pick up of a player will not affect the potential compensation to clubs as a result of their 'net effect' of players in/outbound.

Trade Period - 14 Oct - 25 Oct 2013

Trading period, in which clubs have had the opportunity to pick up free agents who they may not have had an opportunity to pick up due to big trades slowing down the entire process for all 18 clubs.

Well maybe Dave can go down there and greet him with a cake and Young can walk on it and it "Oh Free Agency's a Cakewalk for the good old Collingwood."

Would definitaly be a good pickup for us off the HBF or Wing with his long left boot thats for sure.

Just not feeling that confident he will end up at Collingwood now.... When I heard he looked at the Westpac Centre I thought a deal may be done quickly etc
But as it has dragged on into a second week I think the Hawks would be in the box seat to keep Young.

You would think that. Well the Jarrad Rivers to Cats has taken longer.

I heard that Young talked to Bucks Yesterday

The meeting was also with Walsh and they were finalising a few minor details and terms of the contract. Expect a little more to come out as the day progresses and finally an announcment anytime within the next 48 hours. Is this fella really that good?? He is in reality an unaccountable half bank flanker with a penetrating left foot kick on him. Not sure he can hit up targets or play on a man. Don't know why people are losing sleep over it. I'm more excited about what is taking place with the Tippett deal and Dawes deal to see what we do here. Expect us to have a few tricks up our sleeve in this. Bucks and Sando are very good mates. CLINTON YOUNG -
There was a rumor doing the rounds that Clinton Young had made a decision on his playing future over the weekend, and has alerted the Hawks on what his plans are.

Again, this is only a rumor, Clinton Young has spoken again in private with Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley, as a "reassurance" and it's understood that Collingwood is set to be his destination club.

Despite Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon also making late plays with the unrestricted free agent, Young has only met with Collingwood at this point.

It's understood that Young is seeking out a new club because he wants increased responsibility and more midfield time, something that Collingwood can offer, given Wellingham's exit form the club.

Clinton Young only has 4 days remaining of Free Agency this year, and must make a decision within the remaining days.

Take that what you want

Young doesn't get more midfield time at Collingwood from Wellingham's exit. First off Wellingham didn't spend much time in the midfield anyway, and secondly, Luke Ball is still to return.

I don't think Young would spend anymore time in the midfield than he would at Hawthorn. I'd personally rather give the opportunity to someone like Seedsman who I think will be a very good player.

If Dawes is not traded then Wood will definately be delisted.

However, if Dawes is traded then Wood will definately be delisted.

I would think with Paine being injured that they are going to have to look at a Martin / Pederson at some stage in this trading period or draft.

The fact that we are waiting until the end of the trade period to decide whether or not to give Ben Johnson another contract may have something to do with if we do or do not sign Young. If we sign Young I see him stepping into Johno's shoes.

I doubt he's coming at this point.

Given how long it's taken, I'd wager Young has been using us as a bargaining chip to get more out of Hawthorn.

If he was seriously considering leaving, it wouldn't have taken this long to come to a decision.

What has happened to Paine snoop dog? nothing serious I hope we do not get much information up here in the north I rely on BF for all my info.Pederson I heard was definitely going to Melbourne it seems like anyone who is out of contract is heading to the Dees.

Edit: Apologies Snoop Dog I just read about Paine sorry.

My thinking is the exact opposite. Probably making it look like its a tough decision when the decision has already been made to leave. I'm expecting Young to announce that he will be @ Collingwood next year and they might just wait till the last day of FA to do so.

Just had a look at the Hawks board and current consensus there is that he is gone as TD says make of it what you will.If the rumour that he met Buckley and Walsh again is true it is probably not a forgone conclusion that he is staying at Hawthorn.

Hope you're right.

But like I said, it seems to have taken far too long.

Hawthorn has offer A)

Collingwood has offer B)

He loves Hawthorn, has all his mates there, but feels (X)

Shouldn't take 2 weeks to work out what means more. Collingwood isn't far from Hawthorn. If his mates are the issue, he can still see them whenever he wants. Look at Wellingham. He's been living with Franklin for how long now.

Still smell a ruse if you ask me.
