Clinton Young - Thoughts?

Roberton has all but walked out on Freo, and would be the type of player that would enter the draft quite willingly and end up at GWS or the Suns, so Freo may have to take what they can get for him.

He's only 21, is 191cm tall and had a bad year this year due to injury otherwise he would have played most weeks for the Dockers.

If we get him for a third rounder, it's a bargain IMO.

That's a fallacy, played a half and kicked a couple good goals but shanked it more often than he hit targets. A bit like suckling, soft with overated kicking

Suckling is one of the best kicks going round.

Hell, if you dont want him either, we'll take both Young and Suckling.

I don't thing anyone is claiming him to be the messiah that will improve our field kicking. There seems to be a lot of people potting his kicking. Anyone who says the guy doesn't have serious kicking skills though is kidding themselves. The query is on his decision making like it has been with Wellingham at times and someone like Simon Buckley all the time.

I see Young simply as a ready made replacement for Benny Johnson. In many ways they are very similar type players. Benny will be in his last year next year. Young is probably more damaging, but lacks the grunt of Johno.

He could be moulded into a tagger with his endurance attributes. You can't have all stars in a salary capped competition, got to have role players too.

Still doesn't make sense. Its the players call. If he wants to go to Brisbane he will, if he doesn't he won't. There is not much any of the clubs can do about a UFA.

I have seen a bit of him and i think he is ok but he can butcher the footy horribly off HB at times and that is something that I hate. We have enough average kicks out of defence at the moment.

Maybe we should try and take dasy thomas off the wing and put him on a HBF in a rebounding and runner out of defense role, pretty good 1 v1 player and has good skills, then put clinton young on a wing (where hes played his whole career) as a runner who bombs it into the forward to cloke and the Q stick, and kick those running goals from 60+ meters out. then we put lukey ball back in the middle to help out with those hard ball gets.? thoughts?

yeah so would i, because of how he runs into the fwd line and kicks goals for us, would be nice to have two of him though. think he would be great on a HBF, but would play better on his natural wing/HFF role
