So am I! I can't get enough of it. It's not for everyone, but I'm loving the extended trade period because it's keeping footy front and centre in the media for longer.

Love it too but When a Player is Linked to collingwood I get exited and then Parnoid

Sorry if this has been mentioned already i couldn't be bothered reading all 42 pages. On the surface it appears Clinton would really fill that role of a player that can run hard to space carry the ball and quickly launch a 70m rocket on top of Cloke's head, I feel you already have a similar player in Simon Buckley who can't get a regular game. I don't think young is that much better than Buckley.
 
I actually don't mind Simon Buckley tbh. He does 2 stupid things a game. If we could just get that down to 1 he'd be like Heater was in first 2 years.

I think Young is better than Buckley in that he's a better decision maker (which isn't difficult when Buckley is your comparison), but I don't think he's so much better that he will make any real difference, and seems to be quite overrated by many in this thread.

Most Hawthorn supporters I know are quite happy to see him leave, not because he's shit, but because he's just a relatively average player who won't have much impact on the side with his absence. And he opens up a spot for one of their younger players.

Or not. Regardless of the number of Shaw's stuff ups, he's one of the best half backs in the league because he's as tough as they come and a great one on one defender for his size. Neither will you ever say about Buckley.

Plus Shaw is actually a very good decision maker, it's his execution that lets him down. That is not the case with Buckley it's more often the opposite. Plenty of Buckley's disposals will rank as effective simply because we managed to win the ball, despite the fact that he picked the wrong option (i.e kicking long to a contest rather than the open man he would have found if he didn't have tunnel vision). It's far more than one or two stuff ups a game with Buckley.

Collingwood on the other hand lacks depth. So while Hawthorn might be happy to trade him to open up some opportunities for youth, Collingwood has the other problem. Not enough options, especially with Wellingham gone.

I dont mind Buckley myself (if he makes the cut) but he shouldnt be our only depth option.

Are we looking at Young purely for depth? Or to be first 18? I'm not sure what Young is asking for, but I'm not sure it's worth paying him to simply be depth. We do actually have some players in that area in Marley Williams and Marty Clarke. If we need more, I'd draft one.

That said if we do manage to bring Young in, I'd be fine with it, but I just don't think he'd be a significant addition.

I expect he'd be best 22. Clarke wont give us drive out of defence like Young or Johnson can, and Williams is just a kid.

Not everybody has to be a significant addition. Leigh Brown for example.

But I think we need to replace our two senior players with two senior players. Out Dawes Wellingham in Lynch Young is a positive thing. We lacked depth last year and not replacing Wellers with a hardened body would be a risk. And Young seems to be best avialable

Not sure if Young could handle our kick-ins. Every Hawks supporter I have talked to says he is actually a bit inconsistent with his kicking over a short distance. He is a terrific kick when he can run, carry and boot in 60 metres. But off a standing start over 35 metres he can be suspect.

I think we need him in our side because we need some run and carry. But I see him more as a wingman than a defender. He can potentially play off a half back flank, but his role at Hawthorn has been higher up the field.

Gotta say I'm quite staggered at the apprehension from some of you guys regarding Young!
People so nervous they need to go for a walk etc
He's a good player sure, but not exactly Chris Judd!
I hope he stays at Hawthorn, but if he leaves, then so be it, others will step up with more opportunities
Surely it's not the end of the world if he goes to Pies or not?

Fair enough, guess that's why you've been hanging around the Hawks board for the last week or so, then asked to give it a rest!
Pies will be a good side next year regardless of Young there or not
