I understand your point Sp but if we were only going to award DE points for disposals to the direct advantage of the target most of the players would be on about 10% per game - firstly I beleive its a dubious statistic but secondly IF you take any notice of it at all it has to be regarded as a proportional thing to be measured against other indicators.

Maybe, but that would make it a more effective stat to look for. It doesn't matter if the average is 10% or 90%, what matters is that the number appropriately represents kicking skills, which at the moment it doesn't.

I'll agree with the last but also question whether the meaning of the stat is properly understood, from my point of view kicking to 1V1 is effective but not to outnumbered players. It's all very well to say kicking to superior numbers is effective and that is a no brainer but how often over the course of a game is that possible given modern football's structures? I would say perhaps 20 - 25% of the time and perhaps even then the superior numbers may be poorly positioned to take full advantage.

It's just too muddy a term and statistic to be of any real use.

100% effective disposal of Chapman

Wow. That is disgraceful. His feet left the ground, elected to bump. Gone for sure.

Young, on the other hand, will be fine, even though I can't believe Chappy chose to headbutt him as well.

Well done Clinton for not carrying on about it. See ya Chappy!

I think a better stat would be to measure the % time that the ball has been retained by the side after the disposal, therefore removing turnovers and kicks that end up as neutral.
