How well do these two understand each other, the taps that Cloke puts down Stevens throught over the last 4 weeks are really encouraging, like to know if others share the same thoughts about this combination as i do? Cameron with his skin fold down and Stevens with his new enthousiasm for the the game they could really cause alot of opposition teams headaches through out the year.

The only problem i see is will Cloke get his hands to the footy first against the taller ruckman.
has done it over the last 4 weeks , cant see why he wouldnt throughout the season . The only ruckman i cant see him winning against , then again cant see anybody winning against him, is the freak Sandilands

Im glad this was brought up. There was an article last week saying how stevens had gotten in Clokes ear and really helped him improve in training drills.

It looks as though it has continued on to the field. I noticed 3 taps from Cloke that hit a running Stevens on the *** that set up very important center clearances. It was as good ruckwork as you would ever see.

Can this be carried over to the home and away season? it would be nice.

I clearly remember two separate times where Cloke got a great leap and tapped it straight too Stevens who was running at full tilt, we ended up getting the ball into our forward 50 without the lions touching the ball. Cloke could well be a revelation this season early signs are good

Yep, it's happened a few times in each of the games. It can only improve as well :thumbsu:

Love to know what word was bleeped out there.

Judging by tis thread, it seems that Cloke has made large bounds in becoming a ruckman. I ahven't seen him play yet so I won't judge, just wondering though, on his form, will Cloke start ahead of Ackland in the ruck or will Ackland still be the #1 ruck?

Yuk, wait till they face Lade, Burgoyne or Cox, Judd combos

Already written off the Hale/McIntosh/Moran Simpson combo eh?

Look, he's not gonna be the leagues best ruckman, but he will be competitive against all but the very best. Given that we haven't had much service out of the middle since Allan got injured this will be (and has already shown to be) a huge plus.

Acland will still start the number one IMO but they will rotate. McLaren who was probably number 2 has slipped to 3, and if Aisake's and Hampson form continue he could be 5 by the end of the year - and out of a job.

And what was bleepd out Enso?

After a couple of seasons where he looked disinterested (IMO),that was the best game I've seen Stevens play.As for Cloke ,the kid is having a dip, looks fit and is relishing the second chance.
Finally credit where it's due ,very impressed with the youngsters at the Lions!

Finally seen Stevens at his best in a navy blue jumper and was very impressed by his acceptance speech for the the medal.I think he's now a genuine blue.
Cloke might just have something about him which will hopefully stick it up the pies.
Can only hope things get better this year at PP, as Mr Pratt says , it's only the beginning
Go Blues, let's show Richmond we're fair dinkum!!!

Just like to state the obvious.

Blues have been heading in a particular direction with team development. The hawks had a plan similar some years ago with chick etc which was to forego the footy ability and get big athletic types in who could be taught to play footy.

Blues have a similar plan in mind with a difference. We are going for tall, super athletic mobile types, the difference being we are prepared to sacrifice some pace for the natural more footballer.

There are a couple of exceptions being the Aisake brothers and Hampson. But I think we can see why.

We all know we have one of the tallest lists going around, but there not all lumbering idiots.

Its great thinking and planning by Pagan and he is setting us up for great future.

Kudos.

i like how i think it was cloke and only 2 kicks and a 3rd for a goal no messing around with it if we can take 2 kicks to fullfoward would be a lot better :thumbsu:
will make a big improvement the occasional pts handy keeps the ball down ya forward area

I wouldnt say that, its just that most of us had very low expectations on Cloke and he has by far exceeded them. Some of his ruckwork has been very very good against much taller opponents.

Blues fans arent used to winning the ruck. Frenchy tried hard but thats about it.

Agree about french, and i never seen Bryan tap the ball as cleanly to our mids, ok especially to stevens, as cameron has so far. Cloke could really end up being a great bargain for Carlton, and maybe down the track he could entise Travis over to us too.

We don't have room for Travis Cloke in our forward line so he can stay at the Pies :)

i am happy that we have picked both cloke and ackland up. We know that they are working to near 100% as they want to keep their places in the side. You do fell for D-Mac as he was going ok last year. I have to say that cloke and ackland are better ruckmen and more helpful around the ground.
