Clokes Suspension

Yep, two weeks was justified.

Interesting that people on 3AW this morning were saying that because it's a Grand Final he shouldn't have been suspended.

But, his actions changed the course of the game.

Granted, Collingwood were without doubt the better side on the day and still would probably have won if Edwards had continued to play, but he has been one of our best all season, and left a big hole in our midfield and halfback line.

I would suggest that had Edwards been OK, Collingwood still would have won, but by nowhere near as much.

Cheers

I do agree but I don't agree fully on they would have won because you never know what would have happened. Although next year they are gunna be in for an ass whuppin!

Yeah fair enough, you never know what would of happened....

But I do think that losing Edwards was more critical to the game than losing McLeod....

I do agree with you there. McLeod is a great player but altely he just seems a bit off the pace if you know hwta I mean. Hopefully with a bit of rest he will be raring to go next season. I hope our first game is a home one it would be great to go to. Beinkie was also injured for most of the game too. I remember him coming on in the last quarter after being wiped out at the start. I know there was others too I just can't think of them right now.

If you do the crime you do the time. I think he deserves the two week suspension, regardless if he misses a Grand Final or not. He may not have deliberately done it but it was reckless and careless. I don't feel sorry for him at all. Edwards was a match winner on Saturday. He was playing superbly and if he hadn't gone off I think things may have been different. McLeod was doing alright on Saturday and his injury also hurt us. We could have covered one but not both players.

No worries because Collingwood don't have a chance on the weekend. The Brisbane Lions will kick there arse!

I couldn't believe Kevin Sheedy saying if you get suspended in the PF, you should still be able to play in the GF the following week, and miss the games in the following minor round! Get real!

Caroline Wilson's point about it being open slather in the PF, if that were the case, was ignored.

Come on, can you imagine if it really worked like that?

Bad luck for Cloke, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

I think being happy about it or not feeling sorry for him is pretty poor.

If you can't find it in your heart to be sorry for a kid who has made one mistake all year and will miss the grand final because of it then you are not much of a human being in my view.

Whether he deserved it or not - you can still have sympathy for the kid.

I would have thought most Crows fans would have been bigger about this.

If you look at his season - he has played 21 games I think - that is good for him in his first year. To miss out on the Grand Finals is terrible for him. However - he can only blame one person for it. Himself. It is a shame he is going to miss out but if he hadn't been so reckless he would be lining up on Saturday. I don't feel sorry for him - I feel sorry for Tyson Edwards who was playing so well and was taken out by Clokes actions. If we had one and Tyson couldn't have played - I would have been devestated for him because he was the innocent party in the whole thing.

Sorry as I said, do the crime do the time.

I agree with you Jars.
It's great to see not all Crows supporters are a bit more aware of the wider picture and the game itself, not just the little outpost that is Adelaide.
I feel sympathy for Cloke as I did for Bickley, one stupid decision can haunt you for a long time and I think both players regret their spur of the moment actions.
I don't feel sympathy for Cloke just as a Collingwood supporter, but also someone who plays the game and would hate to have that situation happen to me. Cloke is not the victim but that doesn't mean I have to be hard hearted.
Crowaholic, you really are bitter. How many posts have you made about this topic? You really are starting to look like you are obsessed or have some deeper involvement in the situation that we don't know about.
By the way, good luck to the Crows next season - they look like having a very good side again, particularly if the deal with the King works out.

agreed there, the same rules should be applied for the major round aswell, but u cant help but feel sorry for the bloke though. he would have been playing in his first grand final and u gotta feel for him. i think what he did wasnt reportable, even though it did cause tyson to get taken off the ground, but i honestly doubt whether having edwards would have changed the result of the game

there is no I in TEAM!!

Im very sympathetic for the guy that ended Tyson Edwards prelim final........

Like I read before, our Tyson Edwards is the victim, who give a stuff about Cloke.

here here - what goes around comes around

In the prelim final you would want to be extra careful about what u do and Cloke's actions were reportable and deserved the 2 matches!

It shouldn't matter what game is coming up next week, that's why you must be careful in the finals because you can hurt ur team with undisciplined play!

Feel a bit for the guy, but if he wasn't so reckless then he would be playing in the GF!

If you lost one of your best performers of the season due to an act of thuggery by an opposition player, I can assure you u couldnt give 2 stuffs about him if he got reported and suspended??

Cloke  who gives a crap

Yeah, and I didn't hear too many Crows supporters arguing against the 5 week ban that Bickley got.

You dont know for a fact whether his actions changed the course od the game. Its all hypothetical and not relevant as nobody can predict what would have happened had Edwards not been knocked out.
