Club 18

Thanks for the support fellas, I will get the message to the boys tomorrow night at training...this will be a good one!!!:thumbsu:

Can anyone tell me how long the games go for in club 18. I am under the impression that they play 20 minute quarters with no time on. Is that true? Sounds like a good deal for older blokes like myself... I see the seasons are a bit shorter too. 11:40 starts I believe.

What else makes it different from the seniors and reserves grades?

Seriously what is the standard like? Is it like the ammos version of super rules or do you get some young blikes running around too?

Can you have a drink after the game if you are followed by U19's?

I'm interested in getting involved.

Happy with that prediction Gun, but beanpole you are talking about isn't even in the same picture. Results will tell the tale.

Hate to say it pointblank but I told you so;). Very impressed by what I saw of the dragons and they will (apart from a massive boilover against and undermanned Therry side) cement 4th spot this week and knock over Marcellin in the 1st Semi. The Dragons are hitting their best form at the right time and will make a big assault on the finals full of confidence.

Agreed, great result..would be fantastic to see The Dragons advance past 1st Semi - will be tough for them however, v Whitefriars in the Prelim.

Hey Dee Snider, thats a confident quote!!

Who is to say that it will be the Dragons versus Bulleen Temp in the prelim??

I think bold predictions (like mine earlier) are a danger!!

Anyone may step up come the finals in a weeks time!!!

now now fellas, we're not in the finals yet, one more week to go and we can then plan who we're going to play...it doesn't matter at the end of the day, whoever we play we need to be at our best to win as we've lost to all 3 during the year...

JP! Eat my words and very impressed with the Dragons in the first half.
Maintain that style of footy with a little improvement particularly with a lack of talk from most teammates (a few exceptions including #6) and you will have every chance of winning against any opposition in this comp.
Heard amongst players after the match that a big poker night/raffle on Dragon drawing board? Keep us informed and good luck!

VERY INTERESTING battle out at Stradbroke Park this sat with Xav's 2, locked in a battle with St.Francis for the last spot in the 4, playing Xavs1, who have already locked away a top 2 finsh....

SHould be a close one but on form Xavs1 should run out with the win...It is interesting however that Xavs1 have nothing to gain from a win, whereas a Xavs2 win would assure their spot in the 4...

The question I have, is do Xavs1 for instance, rest a few guns "for finals" (in essence not laying down for Xavs2 but at the same time making it a lot easier for them) or play the game on its merits....

If Xavs2 were to win, St.Francis could still make the 4 by beating Mazenod while making up percentage on Xavs2 (about 9 goals + the margin Xavs2 would win by)....

time will tell....

interesting conundrum jumpman....on form xavs 1 should beat the 2's.Unfortunately mate i don't think its going to be the case. I Think its bad fixturing they're meeting in the final round.

i'd be putting my life savings on the 2's at $3.00
definite match fixing
Although this 1's team may become stronger in finals if they knock the 2's out.

Dragons lost to Marcellin last time in round 3 by 38 points, it will be likely that IF the dragons make the finals that we will play Marcellin, interesting to see if we have improved...i remember the Marcellin team as an older bodied side with plenty of experience...

what do you think about finals played under lights????

Yeah, they have put out the schedule a while back on vafa's website. 2nd Semi underlights Friday night at Sportscover, 1st Semi on Sat day...then the Prelim is played on Friday night also at Sportscover and so is the GF. All at 6.40pm, which means that players may have to leave work early to get to the ground. I know that i'd have to leave work early...

Fortunatley for Bullen Temp, uni classes do not extend beyond 4pm on a Friday so I can't think of too many players who will have any issue being on time !

If the finals are at Sportscover, the huge, wide open spaces will be welcomed by both the Dragons and ourselves.. Lots of running ..could be good:thumbsu:

mate, would not mind it at all if the Dragons get to play you blokes, this will mean we'd have beaten Marcellin...haha...time will tell, first we have to win against Therry this week.

totally agree, this club stinks of stacking sides.

For mine Xavs 2 by 3-5 goals therfore not hurting % of Xavs 1, as OM and Prahran will be close.

SFX to miss..... But gee they looked like a well oiled machine against DLS last week.

So much for all the conspiracy theories. You guys have obviously done well and deserve your spot in the finals but roostertalk, time to ease up with some of the negative comments re stacking and insinuating teams may lay down for each other.

My advice is good luck in D4/D5 next year with seniors and reserves. The club 18 competition is never fair (uneven draw, huge fluctuations in numbers from year to year and demands of reserves to top up players) and everyone seems to accept this.

must been a cracking game played between Bulleen Templestow and Whitefrairs, makes it a very interesting game Friday night, will get down and have a gander...Marcellin got the job done against Carey...and looks like will lock horns with DRAGONs come Saturday morning...should be an interesting game too...Dragons in the 4 in the first year!!! :thumbsu:

Yep a good standard game. Two evenly matched teams not wanting to give too much away 1 week before the finals...the difference was BTs inability to use the wind in the first quarter.

We cannot wait for Friday night (bet you guys can't wait for Saturday)! Catch you there,...

Hi Dee, do you know if there is any sort of restriction on how many Clubbies games one has to play to be allowed to play finals? can't wait mate, this is going to be huge...last time we lost to Marcellin by about 40 points mainly in the 2nd and 3rd term, so a lot needs to be addressed about the ability of playing 4 quarters...Friars are a solid unit with a good combo of speed and strength, i still favour them to do well, but finals footy is different altoghther, this season's end will be a cracker!!!:D
