absolute disgrace that this is aloud to happen jumpman, undermines the integrity of the competition thats for sure. Oh well, that might be enough to get them in the finals in place of two teams that beat them by ten goals!
Weird draw hasn't helped either. The teams that don't have teams in the higher grades are blatantly disadvantaged....how this is allowed is beyond me.

No offence roostertalk but I'm sure each of the club 18 sides which are their club's thirds could say the same about standalone sides (ie. a first team) playing in the clubbies. Obviously you don't lose your better players week in week out to your reserves side. Only fair that you get them back when they have the week off.

If you check the VAFA website for the team stats for games played there was no-one listed for their first game for OX's(2) team so was probably just getting back a few players who go up to the reserves when they are needed - hardly call that stacking their side.

yeah i see your point mate, probably jumped to conclusions a little quickly. I read the Xavier web site and it seems they had a fair amount of inspiration to play the way they obviously did. Probably a little bias in my judgement toward them since they referred to us as the "country cousins" on their website the week after we beat them.
Seems they have fourth spot in the bag though so look forward to seeing them show that sort of form in the finals.

Whether they stacked or not is irrelevant, if the rules allow it then that is fine. but I am not sure about this talk of the finals race being over roostertalk, surely if the st francis old boys win all 3 remaining games and win them well they are a chance. it is approx 15 goals difference in percentage at the moment so I wouldn't count them out just yet..

yeah your not wrong headhunter, although old melbournians aren't the best team to be playing to be gaining any significant percentage.Xavs 2's should win their next three if they can continue their form. Unfortunately might come down to Xav 1's vs Xav 2's in the last round, hypothetically speaking if this was the case would xavs 1's be happy to beat the 2's and put them out of finals? I'm not speculating either way as Im not sure how close the clubs are, but if the position of the crocs couldnt change anyway, would be an interesting position for the club to be put in.

If xavs 1 are looking to consolidate a top 2 spot then I would find it hard to believe they would give up that chance, anyway time will tell after this weekend, I have a suspision st. francis will give a good showing this weekend against melbournians

I was impressed with the Friars win on the weekend!!! Clearly the favourites for the section 3 flag i think!!!

it's not looking good for whoever is playing beaumaris this week.
not only is the dangerous defender chris "the fist" badman back in the mix, it appears that glen "the barrel" wall it will once again be pulling on the boots this week. This ferocious mid fielder is known for his immence torpedo kicking ability's all around the ground.it would not surprise me if he kicks a barrel goal from the centre square this week.
... be afraid...

You've gone out on a limb their 4th, any team sitting undefeated on top of the ladder at this stage of the season would be favourites to win but Bulleen-Temp and Marcellin may disagree. Friars to finish with games against 2nd and 3rd and can still miss the double chance - very open race in S3 with the Dragons also coming good at the last minute.

If the Dragons can win their last 2 matches (Old Geelong and Therry) they will make the finals and cause a bit of scare to the team that finishes 3rd. Dragons for mine to make the big one if they can book their spot as they gave Bulleen-Temp a real run for their money in their earlier encounter.

Sorry to put the pressure on JP but I'm sure your boys are up to it, especially this week on the wide open spaces of Como Park where Old Geelong will again struggle to put 18 players on the park.

hahaha...that's no problems, end of the day isn't the big one what we are all out there for? We are hitting form at the right end of the season, with couple of handy guys coming back from injury and absence, we are finally in the position of putting the best team on the park, which is a luxury but also a pain for the selectors as everyone's being part of our team for the year and it's hard to see people missing out...

But as the Cliches have it...Let's take it one game at a time...

Will be interesting to see how we go at Como with the big grounds...like in Beauy, we got lost a bit in the wide wings...but both Geelong and Therry game are still danger games for the Dragons, rest assured we won't be taking either oppositions lightly...

S3 is very facinating, I think whoever makes top 4 all have a good chance in giving the flag a real shake...how about all of those night Finals???

Great to see Rob Downe return amongst others for OG this week. We have been missing some very handy players this season and better late than never. Very confident of putting you guys under the pump JP!

Yes the fist did play against the dragons however it was not one of his most commanding fist like games.
Last couple of years at beauie it has taken us to the last few rounds to finally get a full team in. Hopefully next year we can do this from the first round.
I would say the standard in div 3 has just about tripled from last year though.

hahaha...Pointblank, absolutely no doubt that this weekend's going to be tough, so we're not going to take you or Therry lightly at all...you didn't have enough last time we met but it was away and I have been told at home OG is always difficult...so should see a good clash this weekend...

Was fist the light haired bloke in the back?

Well we have two light haired blokes down back both very lean. The guy who played well in the backline against you was Wally. Fist played up the ground a bit more i believe he was on a back flank.

The fist is also known to be very popular with the ladies.

JP were you the dragons ruckman? The tall one that is.

nah, you are thinking of our Inspector Gadget that ran with the ball a lot, i was the short onballer....:thumbsu: Wally played really well mate
Do the Dragons have any standouts JP or pretty even across the board.
Dominator should be back in the rucj for his first game back from o/s. Played first few in ones and might be a little rusty. Not in the Sandilands class heightwise but a tall 6'9".

We'll only be a chance to win if we're playing well accross the board, so yeah, we're an even side...( not giving much away, two games to go...) 6 bloody 9??? you gotta be kidding me...that's two of me stacked up on top of each other...

Pretty big day for the club JP. Big social gathering afterwards with many players just playing this week as it suits. Should be interesting with so much quality coming into the team whether we can blend together?

It seems that we keep coping these sort of games, when we played Scotch, their S2 team didn't have a game, when we played Beauy, their seniors had no game, now we're playing OG, you guys are having a huge day with players coming out of the woodwork...hahahaha....got something against the DRAGONs??? Bring it on...WE'LL BE READY... hahahaha...

If there's a big social gathering and some guys are playing their one and only game for the season "as is suits", one would think they're unlikely to add a great deal to the side - but it might be good for a laugh. :p

It's a bit different to other regulars in a higher side dropping back to play in the lower team.

Pointblank you seem fairly confident about your chances this weekend. Im predicting that the dragons will smash you as they are easily one of the top 2 teams in the comp even if the ladder positioning does not show this.

Quietly confident. No doubting the dragons are an okay unit.
It is just that we have 3 strong talls and the dragons will need to match up with some height. Have not seen dragons, so they may well be able to match up. Not many teams could. Our ones are spitting chips this week.

Keep stirring the pot pointblank. The 17-18 blokes you've put on the paddock the past couple of weeks have been deplorable by all accounts.

The man mountain you had in the ruck (assuming he's the same guy who played against our clubbies side earlier this year) will dominate the ruck taps but can't move across the ground and only hits the ball one way (round arm hooks with his left hand) and usually to the opposition. It'll be hard for you to stop the speed and run of the dragons.

Dragons by 10+ goals based on your recent form.

Happy with that prediction Gun, but beanpole you are talking about isn't even in the same picture. Results will tell the tale.
