Analysis Club by club AFL era win percentage

the club that has all the perks of a Victorian club while having their own home ground has the best record ?

10% higher over a 35 year time span. Wow It's almost like it's an inherent inbuilt advantage

Yeah and over both the last 13 (so since our run of 3 flags in 5 years) and 18 (so including that run) the same club also has the best away record in the entire comp and wins at a rate away from their home ground that would earn them a finals spot 90 per cent of the time.

It’s almost as though we’ve been deeesent att futbal

Geelong in that time never humiliating themselves, their supporters and their wider community by putting together say a 2 win season, a 3 win season, and then a 5 win season back-to-back-to-back whilst still looking stuck in the mire of nothingness for the foreseeable future would have something to do with those numbers too I bet. :smilev1:

Their top 4 record is not matched by premiership wins.? wow
The draw helps them finish top 4 then they get found out in finals when things are even ?

no never

Since 2011 - so not even including our 3 flags years - won away from KP at a percentage that would be enough to qualify us for the finals every season bar one.

So quite literally if we were permanently, always, perpetually travelling across those 14 seasons, extrapolated out, if every AFL side got the benefit of playing home games but Geelong didn’t, and we just kept on wandering around doing what we do, at that same rate, we would still keep on making finals. We also have the best interstate win rate though that periodically changes hands with Sydney who’s win rate is also very good.

All of that comes before addressing the idea that we have never once played a full compliment of 11 matches in a season at our home ground.

So do you want to keep making excuses or do you want to just maybe sit the next few plays out?

how did you guys go in the VFL era when you didn't have an inbuilt advantage over the other teams ? 50 years of nothing wasn't it ? funny that

I'm glad you admitted I am right and decided your only course was to attack my club though

so you believe if Geelong played all their homes games at the MCG or Marvel, you'd have the same record as now ?

mmm ok sure

West Coast in 2022 played 12 games at Optus Stadium for a grand total of 1 win. If the HGA advantage is the be all and end all then what the hell happened there? The draw is a cop out, good teams win while shit teams lose.

where did I say it was the be all end all ?
yes you need to be a good side to take advantage of the advantage...well derr

What's the problem then?

Collingwood playing all their homes games at the MCG = good and fair.
Adelaide playing all their home games at AO = good and fair.
WCE playing all their home games at Optus = good and fair.
Brisbane playing all their games at the Gabba = good and fair.
Geelong playing not even all their home games at Kardinia Park = UNFAIR!

the problem is you thinking WC (for example) and Geelong both having a home ground is the same thing
Its not..not even close

mmm ok sure

Mathematically it’s a certainty based on every piece of available evidence.

And that doesn’t even begin to address the imbalance that is the fact that the games we host AT our home ground, are ones you would probably expect us to win anywhere in Victoria most of the time anyway, against interstate sides and generally poorly performing or low drawing Victorian sides
