Heard from a director on Thursday that lets say used to fly around a lot that the club had not budgeted anywhere near enough for the Waverley fit out and hence the reason for quickly trying to off load the social club to put a few bucks back in the old bank.

Seems worth it considering the new facilities and the fact that the social club was operating at a loss.

I will miss bumping into players in Glenferrie Road though.

What are the longterm benefits though? How much of our supporter base comes from the now yuppiefied Glenferrie area? I loved the place too, but Waverley and the surrounding area are ripe for the picking as far as adding membership numbers and thus dollars to our bottom line.

Facilities are one thing, but in real estate and footy clubs it's all location, location, location!

That's the point I have been trying to make for months! It's about the future!

Just on the Social Club, I have changed my opinion on this, we should by all means close it down, but wait for the next property boom before we sell it!

Hello Hawk fans, i just read the Article regarding the Hawks new Waverley Ground and i must say i envy what you guys have done. I think long term when the Hawks are again Flying high people in the surrounding area will follow in droves. Can you imagine kids living in the houses surrounding the ground they will be able to watch training and the Hawks will be able to really nurture their brand in the area every training session.
My team , The Roos, have decided to stay at Arden St and not moved, so new membership in Vic wont change to a great extent. I believe eventually 2 or 3 teams from Victoria will Semi Relocate playing half their home games here and half at an Interstate Venue with Offices at 2 grounds as to appease angry Vic fans , instead of moving outright. I now dont think the Hawks will have to do this regardless of the Tassie venture, they may still play games in Tassi but with Waverley you are on a certain winner.

Pub talk. HFC are the greatest club ever and the Waverley park training centre is world class. One million dollars is cheap for something valued at 7 million.

I recon that Ian Dicker is a genius and the AFL should give him Demetriou's job or Carlton should hire him to make Pricess Park into what Waverly is for Hawthorn.

May be thay should even give Ian Dicker the job to run the AWB and stop the rorts, maybe he should take over from Howard when his contract is up. I recon he is better than Costelo.
