Club Songs

My favourites are most of the older club songs (as sung by the Fable Singers). As a Hawthorn man, that's how a club song should sound in my view. Richmond, Hawthorn, North, Melbourne, Sydney, Collingwood and Geelong all have absolute pearlers, as much as I don't like hearing some of them at times.

I'm not the biggest fan of Carlton's song though, but then again I do hate everything to do with Carlton. St. Kilda's reeks of laziness. Brisbane and the Western Bulldogs have done a great job when it comes to butchering a couple of classics.

Out of the expansion teams, Adelaide and GWS have succeeded in creating songs which you can be proud to sing along to after a win. Port Adelaide's sounds a bit like something they'd blast through a lo-fi stereo during a primary school dance class.

However, the worst club songs would have to come from WA. Everybody seems to complain about the Freo song, but just like how Damien Drum wasn't the worst coach in WA at the time (thanks to Ken Judge), the Fremantle song isn't the worst in WA, thanks to 'HEY HEY EAGLES'.

St. Kilda's reeks of laziness.

Massive +1 to this.

Richmond and ours (not objective at all but the "Hearts to hearts and hands to hands beneath the blue and white we stand" is awesome) are my favourites. Quite like the intro to the Carlton song (despite disliking the club so much) too, probably because it is most popular team among my mates. Also put me in the "don't mind Port's camp".

Hawthorn's is silly!

Too happy lol

Hawthorn's, Essendon's, North's are all cringeworthy.

Even though the Richmond song is good (especially when the Tigers play finals) it's nothing compared to hearing 95,000 people singing the iconic anthem of Liverpool Football Club in England, before the Melbourne Victory v Liverpool game at the MCG last week, 'You'll Never Walk Alone.'

I split them into 3 groups
Great - Richmond, Bulldogs, Dockers, Power, Giants
s**t - Blues, Eagles
Average - THe rest

I enjoy the old Eagles though as well as the Bears song.

Gold Coast, GWS (their song was written by the guy from Cat Empire), Port Adelaide and West Coast songs are all originals

Just read my signature.

By the way posters so far are underrating the GWS song. I think everything about our club is just thrown in the wastebasket just because people see GWS and automatically assume it's crap. That, along with all the resentment just about every other supporter has for GWS.

Every time I hear the GWS song it reminds me of communist Russia.

Obviously, I think North have the best song because I'm as one eyed as the come. ;)

Exclusing North, I'd have to say Melbourne and Richmond's songs are my favourite. Funnily enough, they're the songs I sang at the two football clubs I've played for.

Unanimous Richmond is the best. Other notables North Melbourne, Carlton, Melbourne

I've heard all of them on the way up the mcg aisles in the last few years.

I love the Doggies song, but also like the yellow and black verse from Richmond, the start of Geelongs song and the drums inbetween the verses of St Kilda's theme.

Kangaroos would be my second favourite (after the Tigers) followed by Collingwoods.

The rest are kind of meh by comparison imo. Ok, I don't mind the Cats song either, I cant remember how many times I've heard that over the last 5 years that it's grown on me!

Tigers, Pies, North are the best IMO.

The Gold Coast and GWS songs a pretty good IMO, interesting the Cat Empire did the GWS theme song.

I don't think there are really any bad team songs, but a few that could do with a rework.

The freo song had a facelift, they basically cut all the heave ho, the shocking 2nd verse and let the electric guitar be more audible. I think it can be improved with a bit of lengthening and maybe a bit more substance, but it still makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck (in a good way).

Eskimo Joes pitch at a freo song, Yes the freo song could've been much worse.

I think the Eagles song needs a facelift too, the final four lines of the chorus is pretty much the only part worth saving IMO.

Richmond

Daylight

Swans
Demons

Hawks
Dogs
Lions
Giants

Assorted others.

Eagles
Freo

I really dislike the full Kangaroos song simply because of the line "we shout god bless....". The footy rooms after a win is no place for religion and I would cringe to my very core every time I had to sing this if I played for or supported them.
