All I ever hear from AFL clubs is be a paid up member and be part of a winning side or some bullshit story like that,
But you tell me what are the clubs actually doing for the supporters?
Hawthorn is the only club that has actually tried to look after its members with its fight to save Waverley,
the AFL has taken away the under 19's, the Reseves but did the ticket prices fall when this happend no, and what did the clubs do nothing,
my point is its all well and fine to make the game better but who is really benifiting from it, not the average supporter, is the game any better, no it may be faster but the skill level has dropped off compared to years gone by, its only because its played so fast that you don't see it as offen,
and the players are becoming boring, they are too scared to say anything about the AFL and also the clubs too for that matter,
affraid of being fined when they should all turn around and tell the AFL to get stuffed,
Don;t pay the stupid fines, I've heard there's a new one $5000 fine for coaches who are late to post match interviews, What the hell is the game coming too?
Its simple its about time all the clubs and players went out on strike and did something for the people,
This is why the game is in the state its in now, players are over paid, its simple Australia doesn't have the population to match player payments with other country's like the US or UK for there sports stars,
and incase you haven't already noticed its not the members who keep the clubs up anymore its big corperations, and what does that mean, well for starters more corperate boxes, higher membership prices and gate prices, reserve seating costs, less general public seating, and basically it will ruin the game,
The AFL knows this and thats why they don't give a stuff about Waverley park,
why else would they close the ground when it attracted more than 70,000 people in its last game,
In 5 - 10 years time it will be just about impossible to go and watch a game of AFL football, unless of course you are prepared to pay $100's or even $1000's of dollars for memberships, reserve seats, just you wait and see it will happen,
its only a matter of time,

WHAT !!!!!!!!!

And you've just only noticed this - Sheeeeeeesh

I've known this for along time, Im just trying to tell the stupid w***ers out there who think the AFL are doing a great job,
So get F ucked to all the w***ers out there who support wanye and his wan ker freinds fuc k you all

I get up in the evening and i ain't got nothing to say,I come home in the morning,I go to bed feeling the same way,I ain't nothing but tired,Man i'm just tired and bored with myself,Hey there baby,I could use just a little help.

I'd be pretty annoyed (and poor) if I got fined everytime I did something they didn't like at work. No Worker, even AFL players and coaches should have to put up with that.

And the money gets distributed back to the clubs, equally.

Why don't they run a tally on the 'cleanest' club and give most of the fine money to them. That should keep the demons going for a few years.

Intresting that today the CEO of Essendon raised the GF ticket issue.. I guess like Dan He expects Essendon to be there.

Agree with most of it. Perhaps now they have 'smart card' memberships they could let those who have attended most games each year have first preference.

But funny how the Essendon CEO said the GF allocation would make it difficult for Essendon to go over 40,000 members.

That may be true but I would have thought that the fact they play most of their home games in a stadium with an effective capacity of 45,000 was more relevant.

If a member really wanted to guarantee a GF seat they could join the clubs social club which would do just that.

I can get a Hawthorn membership and a social club membership, be able to sit on any level at the MCG (or colonial) for 11 home games for less than the money it takes an Essendon supporter to reserve a seat at colonial. And be guaranteed a GF ticket should Hawthorn get there.

But according to dan there is very little chance of that so perhaps I'll save my money

And then Pessimistic they would up the anti, there is no way they could guarantee 40,000 social members a GF ticket, it is only the club that guarantees it not the AFL, and they guarantee it because they know that not all their members can afford the higher prices, and I believe it is extremely high at Essendon. I am not certain but I think that is what happened with the Bulldogs this year(bulldog supporters correct me if I am wrong) but I think that that particular membership went up by $200 this year which would have taken it our of the reach of a lot of their supporters. It is ok if there is only yourself to buy for, but a family of five or six it becomes extremely expensive. And wait and see what you have to go through to get that Gauranteed GF ticket, it is arcaic (spelling?) you dont just get it handed to you, you have to queue for hours some queue for days, weeks even, but that is a whole other topic.

Even if you wanted to get a social club membership they're sold out. I think they have been for a long time.

I think most clubs link social club membership to a reserved seat these days.

At Hawthorn its another 100+ dollars with the OPTION for a reserved seat in a social club area. There is the Lindsay Hasset room. up on level two (and of course two social clubs).

I like that because you may want one without the other.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Peter Jackson's remarks might be a forerunner to Essendon 'drifting' back to the MCG - especially if it gets refurbished in the next few years.

A bit ridiculous really that the Club with the biggest attendances be the one that moves to Colonial anyway

Well so many of our members have had enough of the way our admin treat us, that that well publicised 10,000 strong waiting list has gone - completely. In two years, enough members have pulled the plug on their memberships, that the club is now offering us current members rewards to recruit new ones.

Seriously, unless you're a corporate member over here, you're worthless -only numbers to impress the AFL, oh and a yearly fee.

I know that some of our members are 'fair weather fans', part of that chardonnay set we seem to have, and I'm glad they're not renewing, but I hope more normal members quit too in protest.
