Pyke said the co-captaincy made sense given the growing demands of the role and the leadership capabilities of both players.

“Taylor and Rory are outstanding young men and athletes who are very passionate about our football club and are committed to playing out their careers at the Crows,” he said.

“They are great mates and their leadership skills and qualities complement each other, and having two hard-working and highly driven people in the role can only be a positive.

“Taylor is a proven leader and highly respected within our Club and across the competition, while Rory has taken his leadership to a new level and will thrive on the added responsibility.”

I don't mind Co-captains, relieves pressure which Walker will appreciate. Number of clubs have won the flag with co-captains.

Yeah he was. Not saying this is a bad decision, but it's an interesting one. Maybe the club felt the leadership vote was a popularity contest?

I'm not normally a fan of Co-Captains but it think it will work well for us in this situation. Takes some of the pressure of Tex to let him focus more on his footy and gives Slaone the recognition he deserves.

The right call and right timing for both to be captains, with both committed to the Crows for the long haul and both being the spiritual leaders of the club for many years anyway.

Anyone who doesn't think this is a good move has rocks in their head. It makes sense as they are both natural leaders who lead by example and Tex was damaged goods after the last 12 months of media harrassment so it eases the burden somewhat.

Let's hope this frees up Tex a tad, and gets him back to form.

The playing group select the Leadership and the coach selects his captain. Walshy was big on this when he first got appointed and it hasnt changed.
