I would be sounding out Lukey Power. Might be able to snare him with Leppa being down here.. Played 282 games at Lions, 3 time premiership player.. Would be a nice acquisition as a midfield/forward/development coach.. Young boys could learn a lot from him

**** that, put the boots back on him, and let him play HFF flank for us:D:thumbsu:

What do you mean? How does it show and what would Laidley have done?

Last time I saw Laidley he was having zero or negative impact at PA.

I reckon Dean Bailey is a good coach with fine character and would fit in well. We should steer clear of big names with questionable reps and track records. Craig sounds good, poor record. Laidley, chip on shoulder, under achieved. Knights, not a patch on dimma. I don't see any glaring game day tactical issues, are there any that a genius would fix?

I reckon our coaching staff is doing a mighty job developing the list. Only frustration is clearances, so bring in an expert there if one can be identified. Otherwise continue as is, we're on track.

point is we need someone with experience- Lidly as most pundits will tell you is good on match day and tactics- Bailey might be good- thought I would love knighter I see him more as in development/ kids

re only frustration is clearances is wrong, we need mid field grunt and plans from defence- match ups and stoppages are hugely important as well

That's my point. If enough people keep repeating that about Laidley it must be right? Crap, that is classic "group think." His record is not that good.

And you reckon our clearance stats are not a major source of frustration this year? Crikey, even when we were winning early in the year we were getting smashed at clearances.

read what I said the great Livonski- we are deficient in lots of areas that need quality coaching, dimma cant do it all, he needs specialists and those that have been there done that, some of the suggestions on this thread are fine it is getting that balance. a balance that we need to serve our team the best education and skills set possible. we have gaps now they need to be addressed.

I did read what you said, but I just don't see great deficiencies outside of clearances. Our kick outs are no better or worse than others. Defending kick ins has improved drammatically. The coast to coast stuff still gets us more than I'd like. Yesterday and vs Melb drove me nuts but I see it in most other games anyway.

We could go on forever. I take your point, just don't like the big name recruit as the answer. I remember Sydney under Roos. He changed the way the game is played without hiring in ex coach gurus to help him out. I'd prefer a young, fresh mind to devise strategies around beating the current fads and creating a different way, ahead of the pack.

You guys have an interesting thread happening here..been following it closely...

I have a question for you...does anyone have an idea...as to how/who makes the call on replacing an assistant coach...

Who also makes the call on whether an assistant is proving to be a valuable asset to the coaching panel...

Is it just Hardwicks call...or does it have to go through the board for vetting and assesment...?!?!...

Are KPI's done on the assistants..?!?!...by whom...?!?!?...

Or is it simply a matter of finance...get and retain whoever the club can afford...

I've no doubt there are kpi's, just don't know what they might be. For the sake of the onballers coach I hope it aint centre clearances. Heard it was 9-22 yesterday, and it's been like that all year.
But make no mistake, they all get critiqued. It looked at qtr time like Lade was getting a bit of "feedback" from Dimma.
