LOL some of you blokes believe it was the coin toss that won the world cup ....

turn it up

again gets blamed when we lose and gets no credit when we win....yes langer has flaws and was told to tone it down and he did ...what's wrong with that ??

they way he is getting treated atm is a f**king disgrace

A fair few people have mentioned that he was sidelined from the team before the WC. This point seems to get ignored even more then the people who are ignoring his positive results.

Langer is a hard taskmaster and he can get results but he's hard to take, if you ever hear him speak he's even more insufferable than his great mate Matty Hayden.

I'm not surprised the players have had a gutful of him, they are the ones that have to live with him day in and day out, I'd struggle to cop him for that long too.

I'd back Cummins over Langer if it came to the crunch.

In a national cricket setup when it's captain v coach, the captain will win pretty much every time. Sourav Gangully getting ousted by Greg Chappell is the most famous counterpoint to this.

The problem the coach is always going to have is that you can't exactly trade your captain (presumably one of your best player) to another country and bring in a like for like replacement. He just never has near the same leverage the captain is going to have.

Maybe in a T20 franchise the coach can shift them elsewhere and use the money on a star player they click with. But that isn't an option for CA here.

I can't even think of a single head cricket coach (from any era) who would be considered irreplaceable.

I've seen a few social media comments that you can't let the tail wag the dog and Cummins needs to fall into line... but in cricket, especially international cricket, the captain is the dog. Always has been and I can't see it changing anytime soon.

Assuming Langer doesn't continue, CA has created a situation that places the new coach on a hiding to nothing

And the players.

If the players push a coach out and then lose a significant test series there will be some serious questions asked if Cummins and co

Can’t have their cake and eat it too

Yeah no we can’t lol. A mile better than any bowler we have. Easier to sack the coach who does nothing really
He's a "Woke" dropkick, the team is winning again and we have fast bowlers in abundance. Cricket Aus won't get rid of him unfortunately, but he's quickly losing support from the Australian cricket-loving public. After the disaster that was 2018, Langer has brought the team back from near disintegration. Sack Langer and results will turn the other way, but Cummins has lost me...get rid of him

Yeah no thanks. We ain’t sacking the number 1 test bowler. Langer is so expendable it’s not funny…and he hasn’t lost any support really. This isn’t his job jeez. How about we let the process do it’s thing there’s no rush not as if Langer has been perfect the last two years. He’s had some good results and some very poor ones.

I just really want to know how the word "woke" ended up in this discussion

Surely this is a pisstake? He’s the best bowler in the world and vastly popular with the cricketing public.

Being university educated and eloquent is woke to those with an IQ below Pollock's Test average.

I think he meant as captain, not as a player.AND if we did get rid of him as captain there is no one to replace him other then perhaps Smith. The media have a lot to answer for with this Langer debacle.Surely a 2 year contract is the way to go,not 4.

2 years is a nice compromise. That should be the one that happens 4 years is too much when he hasn’t proven he can win test series’ overseas yet

Doubt it. Old mate Jack is a long lost cause. I can't even imagine what's is like to live on the edge, ready to foam at the mouth and at any supposed indication someone could be "woke".

Reminds me of the governor. Wouldn't shock me if it's the same person.

Langer was incharge of the team that lost to Indian net bowlers...

They should've just told Langer you're contract isn't getting extended when they had that intervention shit. It would've avoided all this drama, Langer gets certainty on his future, players get certainty with coaching setup and CA avoid negative publicity. It's clear as day once Langer had a reduced role, the team has performed much better. The players were probably alluded to the finality of Langer finishing up once his contract ended, hence their lack of support for him.

But that's the thing results don't matter this farce is being based on the senior playing group having there own agenda

win lose or draw its not based on that but the boys club mentality
The team look to not want to the coach there. No agenda, it does seem as simple as that.

CA have spectacularly mishandled it as usual.

CA have spectacularly mishandled it as usual.

CA also have a poor relationship with the players due to the contract drama in previous years. Perhaps removing Langer will help that relationship?

People lose their minds over what was really one test defeat.

A bad one, yes, but these net bowlers have about 800 FC wickets between them, and given the bowers in the other test we lost had 1,000 test wickets, it's no shame to be behind them. It's the equivalent of having Richardson, Neser, Boland and O'Keefe bowl Australia to victory - bloody good players denied a better opportunity at test level because they are behind an all-time attack.

Oh, and again, after that he was asked to change, and he did changed, and we won a World Cup and Ashes.

That is a joke surely.
The fact that their "net " bowlers were always fresh was the reason the Indians were able to win the series.
Our bowlers were worn out by having to bowl day in day out, test in test out. We, like India, needed to rotate the bowlers.
And On Cummins, I have the utmost respect for him as a bowler, but , he is hiding in clear view. Come clean, just say why you don't back Langer. I am sure that will get more respect than doing what he is doing now.
