How was Paine knifed? Maybe if he come out and said you know what guys, I'm an average guy that thought I'd send an unsolicited pic of my dick and be able to get away with it, but it's not ok, he might still be there, the fact that he blames the lady for it getting out is a trait of a sh*t bloke.

Langer was no doubt aware he was on thin ice, if we hadn't won the T20 World cup, would there be this uproar? He tried to use the last couple of wins as negotiating his way back into getting another contract and getting his mates in the media to back him and it backfired

The Paine issue had been sorted years ago, CA were aware at least 2 years ago. They could have ignored the issue as it'd been addressed by the parties years before, or said they support Paine as the issue had been addressed by Cricket Tasmania.
They used it to get rid of him after he'd helped rebuild the culture after the disgrace of Smith Warner etc. They could have supported him through the last ashes series & he would probably have retired with some grace & no stain on CA poor management.

With Langer, they've let the chickens rule the roost.

Agree in principal, but in relation to Cummins - the bloke has been in the job 5 minutes, was clearly under instructions not to comment publicly on a decision his employer had not made and wisely had no intention himself of doing so, given the likely detrimental consequences for him as skipper and his team.

The media were clearly pi**ed he didn't give them a headline, so chose to implicate him into the decision anyway with zero evidence and by default question his credibility...
If some posters have been/are being seduced by this, suddenly turning perfect Pat into some divisive snake in the grass, that's just laughable!

Cummins will make a public statement in due course regarding the outcome, until such time some people need to calm the farm, perhaps take a Prozac or Xanax if that helps...

It makes no sense as to why Cummins was doing a presser just hours before Langer was given the arse, full well knowing what the outcome was going to be.

In terms of players, perhaps not pick tried and failed players to replace the batsmen. Just an idea, and Renshaw would have been one I would have picked. He was brought in to make cultural change after the players dragged Australia to its lowest ebb in years. It appears he has done so and the players (who still remain from that low ebb) really don't like it. I'd suggest backing the players in could backfire spectacularly on CA.

Trying to narrow this down to just bitter WA fans is reductive, Gideon Haigh and Robert Craddock both had articles yesterday highly critical of the decision, Mark Taylor barely played with Langer, according to one news eastern states based site's (unscientific) poll, more than 90 per cent are backing Langer and not CA. If CA made the right call, they absolutely have not been able to communicate that to just about anyone. Also, that's a big 'if'.

Yes I did address that in other post, it isn’t just angry WA folk, lots of players who played with langer too. Seems it’s been made into a simplistic generational divide in some quarters as well.

The problem was cricket Tasmania decided to sweep it under the carpet, as Paine was their only test cricketer,

Going from Boof to JL was one extreme to the other, and several senior players who played under Boof just couldn't cope with higher standards being in place.

For a coach to get sacked for that is sickening.

Clear as day it wasn’t the only reason his contract wasn’t renewed. Bare in mind he wasn’t sacked he was given a small extension whether you think that was the right play he was.
