Time to bring back the Boof.

I was listening to a few journo’s that said Boland would have never played under Lehman.

He had an obsession with raw pace and black balled anyone that couldnt crank it over 140 in the shield.

Said he was really backwards and an ordinary tactician

i mean, andrew mcdonald is literally right there and will probably coach the team in pakistan

Seems that's likely what will happen:

Australia have just three weeks until they leave for a Test tour of Pakistan, with assistant coach Andrew McDonald expected to lead the side in Langer's absence.

It was already planned that McDonald will handle the upcoming five-match Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka, with Langer taking a pre-arranged rest before the trip to Pakistan.

Langer is just another victim of a guy who is coaching in the wrong era. He'd be adored by his players in previous generations for his coaching style. Too passionate and intense for 2022.

I hope Langer doesn't coach the England team! He will be too intense for them, they won't be mature enough to handle him. It would take a Khawaja like maturity to see the light.
Maybe...the problem isn't Justin Langer--Its the players!

I struggle to see a coach with the intensity of Langer mixing in well with former generations of cricketers who viewed coaches as literally not needed

Yeah the 90s team famously loved their coach.

Bayliss torched red ball cricket in England , would be a terrible move on that part .

Players have won the day here , no doubt about it . Distancing yourself and down playing the coaches role in an Ashes win . Writing on the wall.
Suprised it took this long.

AMac has several T20 gigs lined up so not sure he is a feasible long term option.

Ponting won't coach Australia. Just doesn't want to do it
Yeah I think you are right. But he would be perfect.
The Australian side has gone through small successful periods since he stepped down as captain.
2013 ashes, Steve Smith era.

But if we want to be the number one team in the world consistently, and hopefully for a period of time, we need someone who can make this team more complete than it is currently (it's close), and believe they are the best.

Ponting is one of only a small handful that IMO could do that.
Outstanding leader.

Shit imagine a coach actually gave a f*ck and was hard on you to get the best out of you. You’re not going to get elite performances with a yes man as the coach. Just another victim of the NSW boys club they’ve got going on at CA. Not sure we actually need a replacement as it looks like the players are running the show and apparently know what to do. Needs to be a serious shake up because this entitlement and lack of accountability will lead to subpar results before too long.

England will snap him up in no time (not that he’d necessarily do any better there with that bunch of sooks).

Another WA poster twisting the facts.

I don't think anyone wants a yes man coach, but JL came across as unhinged and the reports were around his strange mood swings and ripping into players over seemingly nothing.

There's two sides to every story, but based on the players intervention, Cricket Australia side lined Langer and the players responded with performances, seemingly showing that they don't need JL.

None of this excuses Cricket Australia's complete incompetence, but I don't buy into JL being super hard done by, he lost the players some time ago and that to me shows he didn't do his job as a coach.

Wonder if Cristiano Ronaldo is close to the mark, eg younger players

"The mature players, the older players can always help the young players," Ronaldo said. "But, I can give you an example, if I give you advice, even if you are younger than me and if you don't implant that in a daily life it will be difficult.

"You can speak all day with that person. If he's not coming from inside of you it's impossible. I remember when I was 18, 19, 20, some old players speak with me and I put that as, 'Cristiano, you know you have to improve. They know more than you, they are more experienced than you'. They passed through many bad moments.

"But the other people [youngsters], they don't accept that if you criticise them. I don't say this in relation to our players but in general. I have kids, I know. Sometimes when you're a little bit harder, they do the opposite, you have to find the right balance to speak with them."

Isn't the first shafted from within and it's a stone cold certainty that he won't be the last.

You can be proud of helping the Australian Cricket team to an Ashes win JL, amongst many other fine achievements in your long service of Australian Cricket.
