Imagine getting told hey mate sign on for another 6 months so we can find your replacement

Yet no matter the results you’re fired in 6 months

That's how I read the six month offer from CA so its understandably why JL has gone nah thanks I will quit.

Is CA getting ahead of itself because this summer's Ashes was just as much about how rubbish England were and it is entirely possible that the new coach will be left to face a test side that isn't as good as England made it look.

It's a problem how soft some series are as I think any of us could of coached us to that Ashes win. The World Cup was a bit one.

I think Lanager was a poor judge of player at times. He just backs in the wrong guys.

The players will get there choice of coach , they have just removed Langer .

CA are a mess and the senior players are running the show

Sounds like the widely successful mark taylor era doesnt it?

Players had a young skipper they all backed over the veteran coach so the new skipper got his way and was able to hand pick his guy to replace the long term coach, thats why its hilarious when the blokes from that generation act like this is some outrage against their boy langer when they ousted bobby simpson as he didnt gel with taylors style yet simpson had more success than langer and had a mandate to demand a long term extension but player power won and they backed the young skipper over the coach.

Sorry might throw this thread off cause.Local cricket today we had a fielder fielding a ball near the boundary, his hat fell off in his attempt to save the boundary.Ball hits the fallen hat, what is your decision.Umpire gave it 2 runs and no penalities for hitttening hat.

Assuming the hat was not touching or in line with the boundary or unless the action was deemed deliberate by the umpires (interference of play), it's whatever the batsmen completed in runs...

Where’s all this talk of Langer backing in the wrong guys coming from. The team looks about as good as it can be given the players available, he cut Wade, who was the right man for England but his time had come, backed in Head and Green, who delivered in spades. Brought in Jyhe, Boland. The only player he backed in that didn’t perform was Harris and the cupboard for openers is pretty bare. And they still made the decision to cut him at the end.

These players would refuse to play if they were around under Simpson or marsh.

As for cricket Australia, what a joke of an organisation. This is the same mob kept a former wallaby on their books even though everything he implemented, failed and didn’t work. They’ll have another enquiry to see why they are useless and do nothing about it

Not lose test series’ at HOME. We lost to India without half their team
Only Marsh and Buchanan have coached Australia and not lost a home series. Two out of seven. And they both had literally the best test team of all time.

To expect perfection is setting them up for failure.

Your right nobody's perfect.

But losing last year to a busted India wasn't acceptable though. There was no excuse. That was a series you shouldn't lose. Some selctions were questionable.

Throw in the environment last summer was obivously poisonous as the rumblings about Langer began a week after that series loss.

The results will speak for themselves.

Everyone thought the Bulldogs were gone when they got rid of McCartney and it could of been handled better, but they hired the right guy to suit the playing group and won the flag 2 seasons later.

I have no doubt Langer is a good coach but it's clear he doesn't have a connection with the players and it's time to move on.

Classic nsw soft *****. Well England just scored. He's exactly what they need.
It’s not footy where the coach does a 10 minute cliche ridden speech before the game and then go and play for 2 hours . They’re on tour with campaigner for months on end and some of the games go 5 days .

Langers generation didnt want to play under simpson either why do people keep ignoring that group did this exact same thing, they thought he was a good coach but also overbearing to the point of being very had to work over a long period of time so they went with marsh a close mate of the skippers as the coach.

Imagine what people here would say if cummins pushed langer out just to bring in one of his mates who had only been retired for two years?

There’s losing a series but then there’s losing a series with half the opposition out. That’s what Langer did.

Don’t know where you’ve been today but the only people that have been made to look like halfwits are CA and the captain.

In your eyes sure. If the side didn’t want him considering they have to tour with the bloke that’s enough for me…and he was given an extension anyway, he chose to leave

Haha, given an extension :tearsofjoy: Here you go mate, we don't want you as coach, can you just keep going for a little while because we'd rather not put our new fella in for a couple of tours that we probably won't win. And if the team happens to win all the overseas tours and the T20 World Cup in that time you'll be out of a job anyway.

It might have been the outcome that you were hoping for and it may even end up being a positive move, but you can't possibly think that CA have come out of it smelling like roses

Just remember who you’re replying to.

He was still given an extension which would have taken him to next home summer. Personally that’s actually fair enough. Prove yourself that you can win overseas. Langer hasn’t shown that. Sometimes the hard decision is the correct one, more than happy with this call.

Prove yourself for what? He was told that even if his team won everything during that period he wouldn't be offered a new contract. No one is going to agree to that contract offer.

The new coach will have three opportunities to get the team to win overseas in the next 9 months so by your reckoning he will need to be sacked before the end of 2022 if he can't do that
