We've got a discussion going about the best players in the competition but who does everyone think is the best coach THIS year?

Mark Thompson - Bringing Geelong back into the Top 8 after a shocking year

Damien Drum - For adopting youth in the side and making them a force this year

Kevin Sheedy - Another year and looks like another top 4 finish

Mick Malthouse - Bringing new life into collingwood and showing them how to win again (well for the first 5 rounds)

Ken Judge - Coming back west and changing their style of play - with 2 wins over 100 points.

Write in and have your say

Too early to judge who is the coach of the year.

At this stage Thompson is way ahead, because he has made Geelong competitive when everyone was writing us off. Having said that though, you only have to think back 12 months when Geelong was in the same situation and they lost nine in a row. after losing to Richmond last week and playing a rampaging Hawthorn this week, who knows what will happen.

Malthouse has got Collingwood playing well, but I think they have started to go through a similar situation to Geelong last year.

Judge is way behind because his side can't travel and their two 100 point wins came against a side coached by Gary Ayres, and a team which lost their forward line in the opeining qtr.

Kevin Sheedy is doing well, but it helps when you have a list as strong as his that hasn't had any injuries. Take out Hird, Lucas, Lloyd and Fletcher and they would come back to the field.

Damian Drum is doing a great job, but lets be honest they're are still only average.

A Couple of smokeys would be Denis Pagan and Peter Schwab. Denis Pagan has his side 5 and 3 despite losing Carey, Archer, Stevens and Martyn at different times during the year. And Peter Schwab has probably developed the best spine in the competition Hay, Rawlings, Crawford, Holland and Croad and they're all still in their early 20s.

As I said at the start it probably is a bit premature to tell, another month and we will have a clearer picture.

what about Spud Frawley ? He's done a terrific job with the Tigers considering all the injuries that they have suffered (including Richo out of the season) and they managed to spank Geelong by 70 pts. He has a real vision for the future Spud, and hey, I think he's the best Tiger coach, in well, a long long time. He's my vote for coach of the year so far, esp if they manage to make the finals

Ah, Ken Judge.

How can we rate him at all after de-skilling the Hawthorn players for so long. Watch us rise this year

The only reason you're doing OK now is that he hasn't had chance to make enemies of your players yet. Give him time.

He came to you at the same point as when he came to Hawthorn, 5 years after a premiership with some aging superstars. The similarity is chilling

Already Chris Lewis is gone (see darrin Pritchard)

Take the top four players out of ANY side and they'll "come back to the field"!!!

I noticed your dig at Gary Ayres.

As your a Geelong supporter I'd be interested in your opinions on him.

Don't you believe that Pes! He has made LOT of enemies so far.......

The way he forced Chris Lewis to announce his retirement was disgraceful....

Want him back? Please?
