Had pretty important role at richmond, important we replace him with someone of quality.
He had previously been a senior coach, done well with a lot of the key defenders and was head of development and coaching performance

Longmire is pretty settled doing corporate work for the sydney swans. Would simpson give up his media duties and relocate to melbourne, ruled him self out of going into the dees process, not sure if a less prestigious senior assistant/head of coaching will appeal. Maybe Hinkley but a lot of clubs have interest in him

Didn't get that from your post at all, all good. Thought it is a strange appointment myself so was trying to get a perspective and thought I'd reply my opinion on the timing.

Not sure he left under a cloud? Thought he had a contract which expired in 2025 so when Goodwin got the Khyber, Choco was also let go to bring in a new coaching team.

And given he has had success at Port, Richmond and Melbourne, its not a bad record.

Major issue is he's more player development than coaching performance & development which is what Truck's role was, so the role may not suit his strengths, but I wouldn't be upset if we went this way.

Rutten wasn't really a coach per se, more of a glorified head of footy operations.
I'd love someone like an Adam Simpson or John Longmire in that role for us.
