I thought Tim Livingston was head of the coaches

Used to be, but when they shifted Balmey out Livingstone got promoted to take the performance half of his role. We didn't actually replace Livingstone as coaching director until last year when Rutten took the role.

Who is etc? Morris had a kid and isn’t coaching anywhere this year. Lambert similarly stepped away for personal reasons and isn’t coaching anywhere. And no one here liked Rutten but now that he’s left it’s panic stations?

On the flip side, we’ve just brought in Breust and Duryea who both (especially Breust) would’ve been highly sought after.

Also just found out that in his current role at Caulfield Grammar his main purpose as the head of football there is to mentor and guide the younger coaches and to develop a comprehensive plan that is sustainable for their future.

so it actually could be right in his wheelhouse.

It’s very much Yze’s team now, with Tim and Blair overseeing the transformation.

Like Lambert & Morris, Rutten was part of the old regime and may not have found his role at the club that meaningful. There will always be a background justification for someone departing, but from my perspective it’s generally because they are no longer emotionally invested in the work.

Given that we have invested so heavily in young coaches, we do need someone to fill the role vacated by Rutten to ensure the new breed get the support and guidance to make the program successful.
