Why did Carlton exclude everyone besides Ratten? At least we are going through some sort of process.

They considered McKenna and Bond, and Voss before he changed his mind. There was no point interviewing a whole truckload of candidates that you'd never want. Pratt and Swan tend to make good decisions fast, and don't stuff around. Ratten was a perfect fit for us. We have an extremely young list, and needed a young energetic coach. Ratten is an excellent communicator, and always has been astute tactically. Not saying there's anything wrong with the Dees taking they're time, it's just that if you find the right person for the job early on, best to just make the decision and get on with it. Freo did the same.

I'd like to see the Dees go for a younger coach, with new ideas and less baggage. Not sure who the best candidate is though.

Well secretly I love them and i was told today by a Melbourne coterie member that Sheedy has won it from Hardwick!

Not really, everyone knows Riley isn't really a chance and we all hope Connolly is just there as he is an old player.

Sheedy is the leading candidate with Bailey giving the best initial presentation and Hardwick being the perfect candidate according to the clubs initial criteria (youth, premierships, defence etc).

But I doubt the club has made its decision already, every other candidate still has 2 and a half hours to present to sway the club, and before the final interview I'm sure Ross Lyon wasn't the number 1 choice for the saints.

Nah Kevin as coach and connolly as operations manager, in somewhat of what of a FA Cup style. It would be extremely interesting if this was to take place.

Personally I'd love to see a similar mode take place but Hardwick as coach and Sheedy as manager

Sorry to be picky (this isn't really directed to you dutchy), but I just hate the terminology used recently by the media in regards to this new coaching structure.

"FA Cup-style", "Sir Alex Ferguson-style", etc...

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to say:

"And Bundoora have appointed Mike Jones and Gary Parks as their two coaches, similar to the management structure seen in English soccer."

Thanks for the update, I'm now 100% behind Dean Bailey, a bloke I know little about seems to have more appeal to me than Connolly.
