Brad Sewell in the top ten is a good reminder of what an absolute warrior he was for the club, one of my all time favourite Hawks and still somewhat underrated IMHO.

I doubt anyone will ever catch Sam with 723 votes but Newk will go close if he can stay injury free.

Brad Sewell in the top ten is a good reminder of what an absolute warrior he was for the club, one of my all time favourite Hawks and still somewhat underrated IMHO.

I doubt anyone will ever catch Sam with 723 votes but Newk will go close if he can stay injury free.

He does the things coaches love. Another very interesting stat (well not stat per se but something I noticed compiling is the sheer number of votes Rioli got in losses. So often we'd get thrashed and rioli would appear as the only hawk getting votes.

Shows how dominant Tom Mitchell was. I don't feel he was ever truly embraced at Hawthorn, despite being a Brownlow medalist. Hard to come in on the back of the threepeat team, but that's bloody impressive.

Before he broke his leg he was an absolute force.

He was still good after the broken leg but never as damaging as he was prior to the injury.

It's funny but my memories of the Hawks from 1994 through to 2004 are very hazy.

I remember Crawf of course, and Paul Salmon dominating and a few hazy recollections of Ben Dixon, Daniel Harford and Johnny Barker but that's about it really.

I'm probably not alone in this I think.

The trouble is, you have to stand out against BOTH teams to get coaches votes, so our shiteness was irrelevant.

I was born in 1990 and became Hawk obsessed in 1996. So those are my formative years.
Interesting to see that period being hazy to others, but it does make some sense depending on the supporters age.

I was big into Daniel Chick, Angelo Lekkas, Ben Dixon, Nick Holland and Trent Croad between that 96-2002 period.
