Brad Collins from East Brighton looked comfortable with the Clayton boys on the hill Saturday.Any whispers around re -Brad(bear)Collins on the move from East?I thought he would take the job at East seemed Scurrah is moving on.Both games against us he seemed to be running the show anyway whilst the coach was playing.

Got it on good Authority that Reece is GONE. Club going backwards. He does love the place, but will not go through another year of players not putting in the effort required.

Big chane that several of the key players will be leaving as well

The players that are leaving are who?

Skip - retired
Matt Smith - played 2 games
Langford - not sure (no real loss if he does go)
Phil Smith - loves the club and huge chance to skipper it next season , told me a few times this year does not chase money and wants to stay at highett for a very long time
Aba - I'll say will go if Reecey goes
T. Harris - retired

We will get back Polsma, Ryan Marshell & Luke Richards 3 bloke we really missed this year, the 18/19/20 year old guys have come on this year and look like they'll stay because they have family or friendship ties to the club.

As for Reccey he does love the place and can see it going forward, we've had a year from hell but the great thing is we've found blokes can play multi roles. I'm trying to get word from the club to see if Reecey is staying or going, just waiting on a reply sms.

Trust me Fresh.

Reece - Gone
Cox - Gone
T.Harris - Gone
L.Harris - Gone - means J.Bolding - Gone
Aba - Gone - most likely go with Reece
Sheahan - Retired
P.Smith - Will go

There's 6-7 players on the way out

Bulldogs are in strife. No coach, have only just advertised and have not even started recruiting.

Maybe Dowden will be skipper in 2008

Big chance Smith will go back to his former junior club East Brighton.

I got the reply from the club.
"no he hasn't given an answer yet. The job has been advertised at his request"

So theres still hope.

as for
Cox - Gone - didn't play first in his time at the club, coached the 2's last season
T.Harris - Gone - we knew about that
L.Harris - Gone - will be a lost, but can be replaced
means J.Bolding - Gone - no real lost IMO, did a good job but half forward flankers
Aba - Gone - most likely go with Reece - will miss his smarts
Sheahan - Retired - we knew about that
P.Smith - Will go - can't see it happenning, but if does than good for him.

as for next seasons skipper, would have to go to Marshy IMO.

Come on Fresh! you finished 3rd last and won 5 games. And now looks like you will lose 6-7 of your starting 18. You get marshy and Poelsma back, good inclusions but can't see them replacing the quality of out goings

I mean hope as in Reecey resigning.

The club will go out of its way to get new players. We have a little bit in the kit from this year and no doubt the club will go after a few players looking to swap clubs.

Ok fresh...did the club give you any names?

Any chance Scuz will come back as Senior Coach?

Wouldn't think so. There was a huge falling out between some at the club and Scuz, they have cooled but not enough to be hired as a coach.

As for players, not sure. I haven't spoken to many people since the last game of the year.

hi lads timmy here with a question or two for everyone.

there's lots of coaching jobs going in all divvys for next year, but all talk seems to be about coaches moving clubs within the sfl, not coming from outside the league.......here's the question.

Should clubs look at recruiting coaches(playing or non) from outside leagues to improve the profile and standard or do budgets of most clubs prohibit this?

There seems to be alot of player movement from club to club within the league. should the league discourage this and push for clubs to recruit good players from outside leagues? again to increase the standard of all divisions.

Unfortunately you can only hire coaches that appply for the job!! Maybe the advertising needs to be a bit more broader than just in the SFL record. Could the southern take out an advertisment on behalf of all teams looking for a coach in the Ammo's, Eastern, Essendon etc, etc grand final publication? At least there would be a little bit more exposure

Maybye the $$ aspect within the SFL compared to others may come into it.Whats the general thought on a Salary for a div1 ,div 2 ,div3 coach?

good call i realy wouldn't have a clue what coaches get paid. it just got me thinking after the influx of boys from noble park this year that there's some crackerjack players running round, and one or two players can make a huge difference to the standard of footy.

First and foremost congratulations to St Kilda City, Springvale Districts and Black Rock for winning your respective divisions premierships. A fantastic achievement and one that we all play for.

I will be moving on from Hampton as senior coach in 2008 and would like to wish everyone well in preparation for the upcoming season. Having being involved in the SFL for 3 seasons, I have had a great time and enjoyed it immensely. It is great that there is so much rivalry between clubs which adds to the competition, but remember that for a competiton to exist we all need other clubs to play against... get involved with your club and make it a fun place to be but remember to have a beer (or 5!) at the opposition club at every away game and keep fostering that rivalry but help each and every club to be there for years to come!

There is no doubt that the SFL is taking steps to improve its profile but it is up to all clubs to help build themselves up in a professional manner to further build the league's profile. Getting junior footy sides/clubs aligned to senior club's are a must or sadly there will be a few more clubs that fall by the wayside in years to come...

Good luck to all club's in 2008!

Cheers.

Spot on Timmy!!!

Thats one of the big troubles SFL have is that they really only have the pulling power to attract both players and coaches from within the leauge itself.Adding also ,the minute a good young kid pops up in the SFL the next year they are poached to antother club/leauge.All we seem to get is the guys that have been playing at a higher level dropping back.Correct?

Div.1. Playing $10,000 - $15,000
Div.1. Non Playing $8,000 - $12,000

Div.2. Playing $7,500 - $11,000
Div.2. Non Playing $6,000 - $9,000

Div.3. Playing $6,500 - $9,000
Div.3. Non Playing $5,000 - $7,000

Obviously there are exceptions to the rule such as Quinn who would probably be the highest paid in the whole SFL.Mind you for a bloke of that quality it's money well spent.

Div 1 would be around the mark. But Div 2&3 would be a considerable amount less I would think.

Word is that Quinn is not 100% on board as yet at the Dingoes.

as a dingley player who spoke to quinny last night im sure he will be around next year. but i cant say for 100% that he is as im not that close with him and didnt personally ask him if he was sticking around. if he decides to stay it will be great for the club as he has done great things for us this year. if he decides to leave it would be a big loss, but we should be able to cope. it wont be the world. expect some big signings at dingley for next year

not too far off the mark hawks i know for sure your correct about divvy 3 and 2. When you think the hours put in to coaching a side from november till september the following year it aint a lot.

You serious SMUU? I guess you'd know better than me. ;) Wow, might put in for the Senior job at Sandown or something, surely nobody else wants it.

Any bloke who is on less than $5,000 as a coach is getting taken for a ride.Surely all the recruiting, pre season training, praccy games, regular season and functions/raffles has to worth at least $5k.

It's preety well on the mark know coaches in divvy 3 and divvy 2 and there on exactly what hawks said.
