with the Kangaroos just announcing that there new coach is Rhyce Shaw, meaning there round 13 clash Rhyce will coach against his brother Heath who plays against GWS. I was wondering throughout AFL/VFL history has this ever happened before?

Not sure if there's any others, but Syd Coventry came to mind. He coached Footscray against brother Gordon on 5 occasions between 1935 and 1937.

Jack Baggott (Essendon) coached against brother Ron (playing for Melbourne) at least here: https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1937/051119370501.html

Alan Belcher (Essendon) against Vic Belcher (South Melbourne): https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1910/051619100521.html

Arthur Hiskins (South Melbourne) against Rupe Hiskins (Carlton): https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1920/031619200526.html

Jade Rawlings (Richmond) against brother Brady (North Melbourne):https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/2009/121420090719.html

Dick Reynolds (Essendon) against brother Tom (St Kilda): https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1945/051519450512.html

I don't have a definitive list (hopefully someone can provide one), but most likely there were a few others, especially back in the days of the playing coach.
