Great pickup. Fantastic. So our assistant coaching panel will consist of 3 ex head coaches. Hocking, Bassett and Voss, whilst retaining Nicks and Hart.

To me there's some great defensive minds in there in Bassett and Nicks. Some good midfield minds in Voss, Hart and Hocking.

Maybe the next coach in would preferably be an ex forward? I'm not sure whose available, though my original thoughts were maybe ex forward/ruck ie. Lade.

Hocking played 274 games for Geelong, won 4 B&Fs and is in their team of the century. He has been a career assistant at Port with a short stint coaching the Magpies and an even shorter stint as caretaker at the Power. Yet, you get the sense he sees himself as much a Port Adelaide person as a Geelong person. It's magnificent.

Onya Buddha :thumbsu: I always loved the way he went about his work as a Geelong player. I think he would make a great AFL coach one day, if that is what he wants.

Bassett is a great pickup. Astute and driven. I thought I read somewhere that he hated Port Power with a passion?

Phil Walsh hated the crows with a passion. Dont think it matters when a great opportunity comes up.

Haven't heard Bassett hates Port but did hear he and Ricciuto aren't the best of mates.

An intelligent pragmatist not getting along with riccuito? Who would have thought.

Selection Mistakes

Krak – In my opinion was our best half back flanker when he was given a go. His kicking is elite and his composure is unmatched in our backline. How do we reward this? Rookie list again. For me next year we should be playing Hammer Krak and one of Broady/Pittard on the HBF. What a joke he gets rookie listed, obviously I watch a different game.

Clurey – Young emerging talent in the backline for us, his performances this year were more than serviceable and his disposal is actually quite good when comparing to the likes of Jonas. How he was dropped for Jonas is an absolute joke, once again I must be watching a different game.

S. Gray – Blind fu**ing Freddy could’ve seen that Sam Gray was not a forwards *sshole and it took us till the season was over to put him in there. No doubt he’ll be back to the bench next year even though he was clearly better than many of our senior players in the middle.

Ah Chee – We lacked a big body midfielder all year, someone that could take a contested mark, someone to crash the packs. So we give Ah Chee one full game and yes he didn’t play well but then we drop him straight away….. Way to give a kid some confidence and feel some security. Anyway unsurprisingly when he came into the team late in the year he was probably our best player, do our coaching staff even know our players? Our team was crying out for Ah Chee all year. For those who say he may not have been ready, we will never know because he wasn’t given a true chance because our selection panel have no balls.

Jonas: Horrible year, should have been dropped after about round 6 or 7. Then he never deserved to be brought back in but was brought in anyway. Yes he played okay when he came back in but it was undeserved.

Hammer: Sick of people saying he had a good year when he only played well once the season was over. Hammer had a very poor year with the ball for over the first half of the year. Was borderline on being dropped, probably should’ve been.

Lobbe: Don’t even need to go into the mistakes the coaching staff made on Lobbes, just terrible.

Harvey – Now I normally wouldn’t have a problem but when we drop a young key forward who has definitely shown something along the way and we keep the likes of Mitchell and Butcher I do not understand. Both Mitchell and Butcher are never going to be AFL footballers because of their skill level. We will not be a contender with players with that amount of talent in our team. The analogy I like to make on Butchers kicking is if a guy playing soccer had that sort of skill level, even with the great athletic ability they would not make the B grade of Modbury Vista amateurs. 6 years in the system, 6 years and all he’s done is go backwards. Give a kid a go, we are wasting our time. And for how strong I am on Butcher, I am even stronger on Kane Mitchell, he is not an AFL footballer, he never was an AFL footballer and he never will be an AFL footballer.

Basically most of the list consisted of players who were considered too good to drop no matter their form. We need a lot of new people on the selection panel as it was clearly a massive fu** up all year. If they show this lack of balls next year I guess ill be kissing away my bet on us to win the flag. Consistant poor performances deserve to be dropped I don’t even care if it’s Robbie Gray.
