Or it could be injury prevention , North melb is known to have oneof the lowest rates of soft tissue injury in world sport , and in some cases twice as good as other AFL sides

Boomer just keeps on going. Amazing.

Rugby Sevens is hardly the pinnacle.

Neither is AFL.

Polous is obviously interested in Academia and having his work recognised at that level. As good as the athletes the AFL produce are, being able to apply his work to an Olympic program and writing about his experiences with an Olympic program will hold his Academic work in good stead.

Got to bear in mind that our sport is small scale globally.

I'm all for the birdman to return!

I can't see why all the worry...

if pyke is coming as people believe, is there good history between pyke and birdman?
Perhaps, and I'm only saying maybe there is more to this appointment that will come out in the wash
Brisbane didnt run out a game all year and were injury riddled. Concerned yet?

Yeah that is a backhanded compliment if ever I heard one.
Translation ... "Nick has technical knowledge but his people skills are terrible and all the players hate his guts. We are well rid of him."

I am a bit surprised by this. I thought Nobes liked Poulos ... well he did just a year or two ago anyway.

His people skills do leave a bit to be desired. Touch of arrogance.

This does concern me.

Having said that, Brisbane are struggling financially and the reaction Burton gave when asked about our facility/infrastructure compared to what Brisbane was "Are you joking" or words to that affect.

A good tradie would never blame their tools, but it is hard to build a brick wall when all you have is straw.

I was scathing about Poulos under Sando; but I think it's become obvious that he wasn't the problem - he was simply implementing the program requested by his senior coach.
Burton would of played while Pyke was at Adelaide, wouldn't he have? Maybe an early request.

Nothing wrong with a touch of arrogance - if you're good enough to back it up.
True. But when it impacts on club culture negatively (as it did under Sando), it's not so great. Walshy sorted it out, but now...

I dont have a major issue with Burton as such. The problem is that the appointment has already cost us Nick Poulos.

Why TF did Poulos need another level of management installed above him, particularly a bloke he considered to have lesser qualifications.

OK well good riddance then ... hence the comments about wanting to use him as a consultant in future. (you can give us all the good recent technical stuff as long as you do not talk to the players). I imagine he will tell us to GAGF.

I must admit I was also a bit concerned about him bringing in Frans Bosch. That did not make it past my bullsheet filters.

Our sport is very far from small scale globally

If you any Olympic program is great and our professional league is small fry you need your head read. Literally
